The French tastemakers over at Delicieuse Musique have been busy compiling their first in a series of VA releases. Liquors No.1, a smorgasbord of deep club tracks is due to hit the shelves in mid February and will be also available on vinyl.

We’ve got the exclusive on Jesper Ryom’s contribution ‘Pacer’. Throughout its seven minute duration, it morphs into a beautiful sunrise track, comprised of piano melodies and an undulating bass riff. If there’s one track that you listen to today, make it this.

Improvisation is the core of Bugge Wesseltoft's and Henrik Schwarz's collaboration. Technology and the joy of playing often meet and beautiful creations are formed somewhere between machine and human, balancing like a mobile delicately around a centre.  For "In Spite Of Everything" the duo plays on two opposite grand pianos. One is driven by Wesseltoft's emotional piano playing and the second is a so-called player piano, in which the keys are driven by motors and which Schwarz controls in real time with a computer program written especially for this piece. The program is highly reactive and sensitive, creating a sparkling piano duet of pulsating energy and wild dynamics.
SUNDAY-MUSIC RECORDS & BETWEEN BUTTONS jointly release two versions of this piece. A club version with extra bass, kick drum and strings, which was also heard in Henrik Schwarz's Cercle Liveset and another purely acoustic version, just with the sound of the two grand pianos, recorded during the live concert at Berlin's Radialsystem.

„Amygdala“ is Koze’s Sgt. Pepper. It’s an unreal 78-minute walk through Koze’s mind, complete with moods, intensities, sounds and scenes as yet unheard of. It feels more like a double album, urging you to turn over and change the records time and time again. "Amygdala" amazes by its sheer musicality, deepness, and its  ethereal sound design; it’s a kaleidoscope of a great variety of soundscapes where you keep discovering new nuances even after listening to it a thousand times. Nobody else could unite artists like Caribou and Dirk von Lotzow, Hildegard Knef and Mathew Dear, Ada and Milosh in such an organic way and on one and the same record as Koze did. There’s never been anything like it.

He weaves new garments around the a capella parts of his guests, garments that only he can tailor, and that’s how the album, for all the diversity of its artists, sounds consistently homogeneous and in the true style of Kosi Kos. It’s all about “the courage to dare”, about letting voices resonate undisguised in all their authentic peculiarity.  About creating  truthfulness.

How much can you cut out, when does the flame die down? On the other hand, under which circumstances could it even burn for ever?

The album, which in large parts has been composed in a Spanish fishing village, starts off with Balinese gamelan sounds from which a relaxed discoid bass peels off, caressed by mystic backwards basslines, balafon resonances and slide guitar chords. You can hear the ceaseless chirping, twittering and cheeping from all the treetops of Koze's exotic jungle.

What do you know about Denmark? Think about it: hotdogs, licorice, beer, and a definite taste for alcohol. Vikings, Hamlet and Lego. Nor must we forget Hans Christian Andersen, Trentemøller and Junior Senior. So did we leave anything out? But of course we did; Jesper Ryom! This young Dane has already made a far-reaching impression with his "Nature Boy EP" on La Fleur’s label Power Plant Records, and recently his talent could also be heard on his remix of Marian’s "Passengers" on their remix album of “Only Out Hearts to Lose”. And now we are proud to present four new tracks on the digital Freude-Am-Tanzen sister label FATzig.

Jesper’s music is proof that house can be clever and still danceable, emotional and still cool. Again and again he mixes jazzy samples with self-played instruments and places these on a groovy four/four base to his own refined and not too heady vision of house. He’s got both legs in the club, and his mind on cloud nine. Guitar riffs drenched in reverb, vocals full of melancholy and harmonies for at least two eternities. Music that doesn't look at pop as a curse word, loves jazz and breathes dub. Direct from Copenhagen over Jena and out throughout the world. The open-air season can come right on by – and the next Denmark vacation too!

Der junge Däne hinterließ bereits mit seiner "Nature Boy EP" auf La Fleurs Label Power Plant Records mächtig Eindruck, veredelte zuletzt Marians "Passengers" für deren Remixkollektion des Only Our Hearts To Lose-Albums und legt nun endlich mit gleich vier neuen Tracks auf dem digitalen Freude-Am-Tanzen-Schwesterlabel FATzig nach.


Jespers Musik ist der beste Beweis dafür, dass House zugleich tanzbar und clever, emotional und cool sein kann. Immer wieder mischt er jazzige Samples mit selbsteingespielten Instrumenten und verschraubt diese auf einem groovenden Vierviertelfundament zu seiner ganz eigenen, raffinierten, aber nie zu verkopften Vision von House. It's a body thing, noch immer! Mit beiden Beinen im Club, im Kopf auf Wolke Sieben. Gitarren-Riffs, die den Sonnenaufgang heraufbeschwören, Vocals voller Melancholie und Harmonien für mindestens zwei Ewigkeiten. Musik, die Pop nicht als Schimpfwort versteht, Jazz liebt und Dub atmet. Direkt aus Kopenhagen über Jena hinaus in die Welt.
