Jesse Bru joins forces with Max Ulis this April for the collaborative ‘Similar Nature’ EP, comprising five original cuts from the duo and pencilled for release on SlothBoogie Records. West Coast Canada producer and DJ Jesse Bru, as well as being a regular on SlothBoogie Records, has been releasing his twist on contemporary house via the likes of Happiness Therapy, Pulse Msc and Inhale Exhale amongst others in recent years. Here we see him team up with fellow Vancouver-based artist Max Ulis, who also operates as one half of the duo Sabota, Max has been involved in Vancouver’s Underground as a DJ, and promoter for his SLAB parties for over a decade and is now carving out his sound as a producer. ‘TBH’ focuses over to a modern electro feel with crunchy 808 drums, snaking arpeggio lines, resonant leads, and elongated subs. Out on vinyl, digi as well as streaming services April 29th!

@moffandtarkin is back on Lagaffe Tales with a record that marks the 9th release in the Lagaffe series. The Austrian based Icelander provides two originals as well as a remix from label friend @uffeisaband.

The record starts off with Tension a break inspired banger with that special Moff & Tarkin twist. If you spot the sample let us know and you might win a coupon.

The second track "Socks By The Sofa" feels like something that would work wonders at your local bowling arena or even shopping mall, some piano samples and vocals, you know the drill.

The b side is dedicated to a massive Uffe remix, I tell you man, we had to write him back like 5 times and ask him to reduce that bass. Uffe takes Tension and turns it into a jungle journey a la Indiana Jones.

Pure Warmth is a brand new project from the extremely talented and versatile house producer & DJ Tommy Tickle teaming up with fellow WME agent Matt Smith.

Tommy Tickle has made a name for himself with past releases featured on the likes of BBC Introducing Dance, Capital Dance and Kiss. and whose music has been included on the likes of Spotify's Deep House Relax, UK House Music and New Dance Revolution playlists.

London based production duo Pure Warmth ready the 26th release for Important UK imprint Ad Hoc records, following on from the label's extensive and mind-altering catalog. Ad Hoc was set up in 2017 as a way to celebrate and support music bubbling from the Manchester scene, while combining their world music influences and love for warm rhythms and irresistible grooves. The label, which doubles up as a party, has invited a wide range of guests, always with the aim to support the artists they love through their launch parties and the city’s intimate surroundings.

All of Ad Hoc’s previous releases have an abundance of soul and it’s easy to see why they have enlisted the work of duo Pure Warmth. The record kicks off with title track ‘Kutsu’ - a deep, contemplative journey across six minutes of nocturnal moods and organic rhythms, glued beautifully together by analogue warmth. In an age of three minute tracks, the duo use their knowledge of set building in ‘Something lyrical’, slowly gathering momentum through jazz infused melodies and flora swept atmospherics; the track's vocal sample adding to the classic house aesthetic. ‘Money’ turns things up a notch with a club-friendly approach; its hazy pads are threaded through funk-induced basslines and chords, before the record comes to a close with the irresistible and acid fueled hip-house cut ‘The Shepard’.

Earth Boys are back with their third Shall Not Fade release, once again blessing us with a warm, tonal, percussive house cut straight out of their hometown of Brooklyn. 

Earth Boys form part of a rich lineage of New York house duos. Two that specifically warrant comparison are Masters At Work with their latin jazz-inspired house and more recently, AceMoMa with their tuneful, lysergic offerings. ‘Froggy’s World’ comes with an assortment of different flavours, beginning with swung deep house grooves on the A-side and mutating into 808 State-esque tribal house with dynamic percussion. Finally, ‘Bonita’ is a sultry 100BPM number that cruises along a dembow rhythm.

The EP opens up with Cohen Social Club by Flexi Leifs aka Felix Leifur. Our man Felix lost his drum machines last spring but luckily he found a guitar and some drums. The track starts off with suspicious sounding guitar notes that somehow up as pure beauty, giving hope in the darkest of places. Frodo with the ring stuff, if you know what I mean. Playful reverbs and echos give the tune the classic Felix Leifur feel to it! 

Moff & Tarkin has the next track "Pure Fury", some breakbeats and cheesy disco vocals, why change a winning recipe? 

Next up is "We are not alone " by label boss Jonbjörn. I think this is what Elton John meant when he said "thank god for those electro bangers!" Bass Toast steps in with a wonderful multicultural EP. Filled with warm chords and soulful broken beats. Half Belgian, half Portuguese Alexandre Bastos has an approach that’s seen him spend the last few years colliding different genres into percussive sounds filled with both confort and discomfort. He previously released on Listen Festival’s compilation, and is now revealing his latest project on his label Cosmic Breeze Record.

Provocatively named «Golden Spunk», this EP contains 4 percussive jazz-infused house broken beat tracks, in which, he shares the feeling of «Spunk», meaning « courage ». Living in a Golden era, filled with daily pressure all around, determination and courage are both paramount to one’s understanding of what’s needed in our individual and collective journeys.

The elusive Takuya Matsumoto has been floating beneath the surface of the underground scene for a decade, high on the list of double AA listers like Floating Points and Move D since he dropped a few slammers on Meda Fury.  Returning for his second outing on the uber-cool Fina Records, with his ‘Tape Is Rewound EP’. This collection is an unrelated group of tracks which normally one would question them sitting on the same slab of vinyl, but here it just works.  Deep house grooves are merged with tech- tinged beats, punctuated with some filthy dirty acid lines. Killer EP from the crew.
