Hoochie Coochie Papa simply cannot get enough of Disco – of any kind… of any time. His solid string of releases on vital platforms such as Golden Soul and Emerald & Doreen has shown how Disco Music has strongly influenced his sonority. Based in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Hoochie lands for the first time on Paulista imprint LoveDogs with “Knight Rider”, an interesting EP featuring two crusty originals and two fat remixes provided by André Rech and the label owners themselves, the respected duo TouchTalk.

Despite the high quality of the remixes, we decided to premiere/review one of the originals because we wanted to immerse into Hoochie’s work without the “interference” of a collaborator. “Attitude”, the chosen one, is that kind of track that expresses the true essence of the so-called Dark Disco/Indie Dance scene: Its intensity and moxie, provided by nervously arpeggiated synth leads and layers paired with a lively bassline plus lots of rhythmic claps and snares, deliver a modern piece infused with a notable retro atmosphere. Pats on the back, Mr. Papa!

'Variation of Dark-Disko is Andreja Salpe's whimsical, yet completely logical sequel to “Egypt Disko” - his collaboration with Veselinov which recently dropped for Quixotical Records. Including a groovy, organic remix by Leonor and a more heavy, industrial remix by Aurum Miles (@aurummiles), this dance floor oriented release is a welcome folder in any party lover’s collection.

While the music industry stood still through lock-down, South Korean record label uju Records lay working on a brand new EP from Shubostar, with two stunning remixes from Panthera Krause and Zombies In Miami. Waiting for the perfect moment to release it unto the world, it’s now time to launch the ‘Space Racer’ EP into the stratosphere! Consisting of 2 original tracks from label owner, the South Korean DJ and Producer Shubostar, who brings her low-slung Italo-disco influenced synth music across ‘Gundagai’ and title track ‘Space Racer’. Both bubbling over with driving arp basslines and huge drum machine grooves, complemented by beautiful atmospheric moments. Mexican duo Zombies In Miami rework ‘Gundagai’ with their punchy drum grooves and careful reworking of the magical arpeggios. Pairing this driving sound selection with a contrasting spread of synth pads and subdued melodic lines throughout. Panthera Krause takes on ‘Space Racer’ with a crunchy palate of new sounds, uplifting percussion loops and harmonious synth accompaniments. Keeping the Italo feel at its core, this late-night ride is a guaranteed dance floor moment! The artwork for the release has been beautifully crafted by Korean painter Daryung Kim, combining a mixture of Korean traditional, and western-style painting into a fusion of joyous colour and strokes that relate beautifully to the record.

Roam Recordings kicks off 2022 with up and coming Canadian artist RJ Maxwell who brings forth two original electronic dance floor movers. The title track - Motherboard - is a driving energetic offering with melodic electronic underpinnings. The second original - Activate - is an upbeat chugger with a playful vocal. While we were finishing the last details of this release, we read with astonishment in the news that a group of scientists was able to take the first photograph of the black hole that exists in the heart of the milky way. This has raised many questions that we usually find in science fiction. What are they? Are they the portal to another dimension? Are there other dimensions beyond known space-time? The truth is, we don't know shit about this. But the first thing that came to mind, as we laughed through thick clouds of smoke and listened to the final mastering of 'Sticker Shock', was: where did these guys come from? This sound has to come from another dimension. There is no other explanation.

We are more than psyched to introduce you to our reference number 044 “Sticker Shock” produced by Zillas On Acid.
Thomas Roland and James Weissinger were born and raised in Philadelphia (or so they say) and in recent years have built a solid catalog with different appearances in Optimo, Les Disques de la Mort, Multi Cult and Dischi Autunno, among others.

This EP has unique assembled layers and planes. The songs are at the same time fun, psychedelic and deep, mixing slow-motion death disco, dubbed-out drum machine music, and of course ACID to get party people on all planets pumped.

On the remix side, the great German Tolouse Low Trax offers us a robotic, kraut and freaky-funk reinterpretation of the song that gives the album its name. And last but not least, label boss Martin Noise join forces with talented young producer DELLA to create a groovy and percussive madness version of ‘Paper Party’
