Q. How long have you been a part of the NYC music scene?
A. We’ve been sharing experimental sounds and music and engaging in community with folks in NYC since 2015, so about six years now. We used to commute from Philly for shows and parties and we moved here in November 2019 because we realized our primary artist community is here. 

Q. Tell us a little bit about this mix.
A. It’s a dance mix, we hope y’all dance in your bedrooms, your rooftops, your fire escapes to this mix. This mix might be a good way to get ready for the club or if the club didn’t give you what you needed tonight.

SPA was founded in 2018 in Cologne and is focusing on club music with a global perspective. The label is run by Salon des Amateurs resident Phillip Jondo, France 98 aka DJ Brom and Friday Dunard who put in their different musical backgrounds and influences together, ranging from Baroque choir music to high definition experiences. For their monthly show on NTS they reflect on current moods, play the labels output and invite artists around them.

Greetings to you all from the Kulture Lab crew! We’re excited to be back after taking a little break from social media madness and online life. Today we’ll be getting the ball rolling with our usual Soundcloud invites series and we have a lot more planned moving forward into the year with releases every month, Twitch streams and more. 

Turning the focus back to our next episode, we’re very happy to introduce @rydeenrydeen who has provided an amazing show for our return. Rydeen is a musician, DJ and radio host living and working on unceded Wangal and Gadigal land (aka Sydney, Australia). Ry co-hosts the long-running weekly club music show, “Spin the Bottle" on Sydney community station, FBi Radio. Their work has appeared on Juke Bounce Werk, Balamii Radio, Dublab, triple j and alongside the Australian Chamber Orchestra. 

An impressive portfolio to say the least! We’re extremely lucky to have this opportunity to work with such an interesting artist and we’re ecstatic to get this show up for you all to enjoy. Composer of the soundtrack for 'The show is over,' the main installation for Wu Tsang's exhibition, ASMARA (aka Asma Maroof) is an electronic musician, DJ and producer. She is also known as NGUZUNGUZU, a duo formed with Daniel Pineda in Los Angeles that explores dystopian sound atmospheres.

For the "visionary company" exhibition, she offers us an evocative tracklist mix, blending avant-garde jazz accents with vaporous electronic layers.

One brilliant and diasporic result of the journey Angolan music has made through urban Europe. Nazar has produced work after work, extremely progressive in the advancement of the matrix that is the basis of his lexicon – between the deconstruction of being Angolan and many other broken and mutated origins over time.

“KUDURO-AXIS: Luanda, Lisbon & Beyond”, with DJ Znobia, DJ Marfox and Nazar, is presented by maat in the context of the “Terra Irada” programme curated by Pedro Gomes. This programme was presented during “maat Mode 2020”, between May and December.

Lakatoi is an experimental producer and musician based in Naarm Melbourne. Working on various projects through the years such as Kandere and FAMILI he has been hailed as an innovator who weaves his own unique sound into all he touches. He has performed at several festivals around Australia alongside international acts such as Leonce, Nozinja, Asmara, Lotic, Moor Mother, Elysia Crampton and Gaika.
