“DONIS pronounced (DAH-NIS) is a Afro Dominican DJ/Producer born and raised in New York City. Their style is rooted in the city’s soulful Deep House and Garage House heritage. Through the growing club culture in their home borough of Brooklyn, they have expanded their sonic palette playing various styles of electronic music, mixing US regional styles with Afro Latin/Caribbean sounds. They have become well known in the underground scene playing parties for Papi Juice, Boiler Room, Dweller Festival and regularly playing at local venues like Mood Ring, Elsewhere and Bossanova Civic Club. In late 2021 they dropped a single on critically acclaimed compilation, Coloring Lessons Volume n°2 by Coloring Lessons Records and recently debuted their seasonal residency at renowned club Nowadays.”

UMM / AL ATLAL is a collaborative sound piece composed by Esra Canoğulları and Lara Sarkissian. This hour-long piece deconstructs and abstracts a live performance of Umm Kulthum's song Al Atlal. Umm Kultum was known for live performances that lasted hours, with individual songs lasting up to an hour each, the crowd participation playing an essential role in these durational and enchanting live shows. UMM / AL ATLAL takes a similar approach to abstraction as Sahar’s sculptural radio tower- isolating and embedding individual lyrics while reinterpreting their form. The collaborative nature of this sound sculpture is our contemporary version of the audience call and response participation that is present in all of Umm Kulthum’s live performances.

A mix responding to the political climate of our times, experiemental producer and DJ, @lakatoi , has blended an hour of ambient soundscapes and club beats from the Global South with vital voices from our local communities. Lakatoi is an artist practicing out of Narrm with an interest in elevating and weaving the voices from his queer bla(c)k Pasifika, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, which he does in part through his work with FAMILI and Lapdance 4 Trans Right.

Lakatoi is an experimental producer and musician based in Naarm Melbourne. Working on various projects through the years such as Kandere and FAMILI he has been hailed as an innovator who weaves his own unique sound into all he touches. He has performed at several festivals around Australia alongside international acts such as Leonce, Nozinja, Asmara, Lotic, Moor Mother, Elysia Crampton and Gaika.
