XXIII // VOLUME 10 is a club welcome. We’ve been through 19 months without parties and seeing people dancing in front of us.
After this desert of clubbing we celebrate the reopening of our favourite dancefloors with a compilation mainly made by Portuguese producers, but also some international friends we’ve met in the past 6+ years of XXIII’s life.

Michael "Qemist" Ivy is a multi-faceted electronic artist from Memphis, TN with a wide range of production and music
creation techniques. Hailing from a traditional musical background while listening to house, techno, footwork, and
club music, Qemist has emerged as a fresh, new electronic artist from the south. The Memphis Luminary has
gathered up quite an impressive show run with high-energy sets at Good Room, The Lot Radio, Sucia ATL, The Bay
Area&#39;s No Bias imprint, Deep Tropics, D.C.&#39;s Black Techno Matters, SXSW, NXNE, and St. Vitus in Oklahoma to
name a few. Qemist also runs his own underground radio broadcast “Computer Noise” on WYXR 91.7FM in Memphis
and has over 75 archived shows full of hand-picked dance music records. Qemist flows through the ever-changing DJ
realm with ease and has been met with outstanding reviews from music publication giants like Apple Music, Resident
Advisor, and NESTHQ for his heady club mixes with melodic, lounge-style productions cementing the hype and skill
surrounding this bright one to watch.

Ben Zo invites house-heavy @codychrisnyc and the break-y @cruzjay188 to debut their new moniker as a collective: "Patio House Mafia" since they all started out DJ’ing on Cody’s patio together years ago. Visiting Australian DJ @polyharmony then closes with an eclectic, multi-genre mix. Four hours of Pitch Ork since Dark Magic, usual host of the latter two hours, is on vacation? What more could you want? Cody plays the first hour with trance-y prog house, Ben Zo takes us into slow techno territory for the second, Cruz Ctrl breaks down the beat and rebuilds it over and over again for the third, before Polyharmony guides us to a smooth landing for the fourth.

A song is a hype new drop every time you sing it. There’s no expiry date on a song, you just need to keep singing. I sang these songs over and over again this past year when I needed words that weren’t my own. 

Every song I write is the sum of every song I’ve ever heard. This album appropriates and shines new lights on songs that mean heaps to me. 

The local woman universe exists between synth, decks, ableton, bass, and voice. It’s informed by a constant conversation I have as a working DJ, with the places I play and the people I play for. Thanks to everyone who has ever come out and heard me play, you are in this too.

Lakatoi is an experimental producer and musician based in Naarm Melbourne. Working on various projects through the years such as Kandere and FAMILI he has been hailed as an innovator who weaves his own unique sound into all he touches. He has performed at several festivals around Australia alongside international acts such as Leonce, Nozinja, Asmara, Lotic, Moor Mother, Elysia Crampton and Gaika.
