The game was broadcast on tv on tape delay, famously called by Al Michaels.

A little known fact- The game was broadcast live on 1240AM WNBZ Radio called by Sandy Caligiore in Lake Placid and the surrounding communities. 
So when the world found out, the party was long underway in the #Adirondacks

February 22, 1980- 40 years ago- a 29 year old radio broadcaster named Sandy Caligiore was the play-by-play man on WNBZ Radio (Now, 93.3/102,1 The Mix) for a game that people will remember forever- The United States Hockey Team upset the Soviet Union. 

The game was broadcast on TAPE DELAY on TV but LIVE on the radio.
