ABOUT THE ALBUM:

Lakin showcases her strength of songwriting & pure vocal warmth in her self-produced debut album, If Night Turns to Daylight. Her eclecticism shines through each song as she takes you on a stylistic journey: from pop/R&B tunes like "My Heart Still Beats The Same" to jazz influences of the early 40s in "Second Street" to bluegrass, folky sounds found in "I Choose You" to the beauty of simplicity in her ballad, "Why Are You So Beautiful?" Underlying her exploration of genre is a landscape of lyrical content. "If night turns to daylight" itself is a lyrical statement from her soundtrack-esque song, "Feel You"; a reminder that through all of the emotions of life, positive to negative, we are all in need of the bond that we find through meaningful relationship. 

About her music, Lakin shares, "One thing that I always hope someone takes away from my music is an authentic feeling of connection. We all go through different things in life & endure different hardships, but at the end of the day, we all experience love & pain & joy. I would like to think that we all feel a sense of hope when we find that someone else has gone through what we have. After all, connection is what we live for."
