There is a fine line between day and night that seems visible on Fama87’s (@fama-87) debut cassette on Gost Zvuk, aptly named День, ночь (Day, Night). There is no difference between “daytime” and “nighttime” tracks. They are always somewhere in between. Fama87 is no stranger to the label family. He has frequently played at our parties, has collaborated with Flaty and Nocow as part of Wax Paper Cup and has done a few releases with Flaty alone (as Underwraps and FFAA). Both of them featured as guests on this tape. rforest seems like a dialogue between Flaty and Fama87, with a melancholic melody and a persistent beat. Nocow’s gentle voice enriches both Останься со Мной (Stay with Me) and Проснуться на Восходе (Awaken at Dawn).

Despite Fama87’s background in the world of instrumental hip-hop, it’s definitely not a beat tape. He just seamlessly glides back and forth between genres in a continuous stream. On the album you can feel the echoes of ambient, electro, house, hip-hop, R&B, IDM, field recordings and old film music. The hidden plot of the album reveals itself after a few listens. It’s all about the eternal cycle of time: day follows night and night follows day, and so on and so forth.

A lost cassette tape from a film that never existed—one about the fading days of a Ural summer, the impossibility of silence in the mind, the feeling of home away from home, the memory of the road, the spots of a setting sun before your eyes, and the premonition of drowsiness...

"Ryaska" is the debut album by Anton Fedorov and Evgeny Komolov.

At its core are Evgeny's improvisational soundscapes, recorded on a cassette deck, layering guitar textures. Later, Anton gave them structure, adding guitars, percussion, and field recordings. The final mood emerged from impressions of journeys through the Ural hinterlands, interwoven with the sensations of urban life.

Ryaska is a stationary plant cover found on the surface of still waters. The music on the album shares these qualities—raw, fragile, unstable, and unfinished.

The recordings were made between August and November 2023.

Потерянная кассетная лента к несуществующему фильму про уральское лето на его излёте, про невозможность тишины в голове, ощущения дома вне дома, память дороги, пятна закатного солнца перед глазами и предчувствие дрёмы...

Ряска — первый альбом Антона Фёдорова и Евгения Комолова. 

В основе лежат импровизационные звуковые пейзажи Евгения на гитаре, записанные на кассетный рекордер. Позже, Антон задал им структуру с помощью гитар, добавил перкуссий и полевых записей. Итоговое настроение сложилось под впечатлениями от поездок по уральской глубинке, смешанных с ощущениями от городских будней.
Ряска — это малоподвижный растительный покров, который можно найти на поверхности стоячих водоемов. Похожие свойства имеет и музыка с альбома. Сырая, хрупкая, неустойчивая и незавершенная.
Записи сделаны с августа по ноябрь 2023.
