A beloved member of the hyperpop scene, Madge specializes in dark, left-of-center pop tunes. Last month, they dropped their new album BOXJAR, which features names like @portugaltheman, @girlimusic, @lecxstacy, @cmten, & @carpet_garden. They’re also known for their songwriting credits and collaborations with @slayyyter, Pussy Riot & @kaskade. 

Their high-energy mix for Strawberry Western is a blend of pop bangers, exciting mashups, and club anthems - all filtered through Madge’s distinct, edgy aesthetic. 

On their mix, they say, “I live in Brooklyn so I stay active by default. I also do yoga almost everyday. The mix I made is equal parts cute and dark and loud - something that describes my own artist project pretty succinctly.”

Workout Set #13: Madge

In 1980s Germany, brilliant surgeon Dr. Kenzo Tenma saves a young boy instead of a politician—only to learn years later that the child has become a ruthless killer. From a philosophical perspective, the anime explores—among other themes—the question of what “absolute evil” truly is, and whether it can exist at all. This leads to a profound moral dilemma: if absolute evil does not exist, can someone devoted to preserving life—like a doctor—ever be justified in taking a life? The utilitarian answer seems simple: yes, if one death saves many others. But who has the right to make that decision? With this, Monster draws us directly into the heart of the Trolley Problem—a haunting exploration of morality, responsibility, and the darkness within us all.

Based on the manga by Naoki Urasawa (1994), adapted into an anime series by Madhouse in 2004.
