Korey Wade - Let Me Tell You

I’m moving back home to Victoria, Canada on August 3 to support my mom who has been battling chronic cancer for the past three years. I knew I would eventually have to move home but I didn’t have what it took to make the call until recently. I was torn between the life I had built here in Hong Kong for 7 years and returning home to deal with the pains of reality. I didn’t think I could feel happy in either Hong Kong or Victoria because I’d have to give something up either way and the fears and anxiety put me in a dark place. I hid myself from the world and stopped making art and music entirely, not believing there was much in me to give. After visiting home this past December, I finally made the choice to return home. I felt so relieved at the beginning of this year, like so much of the fear had been lifted, and I began to look for ways to be open and vulnerable again. The real reason for these weekly tracks and videos was to teach myself how to be happy again - how to not hide from the world, how to get over the fact that things won’t be perfect and how to look at the world around me with hopeful eyes. It is also my visual diary, a way for me to look back later in my life and remember who I was and how I felt living in Hong Kong. I can’t thank you enough to everyone who has encouraged me to make tracks and videos - all of your comments and feedback have shown me that my fears weren't real and that true happiness always takes vulnerability. Thank you and much love.
