In Winter 2006, as part of his Open Secret Bookstore teaching series, Lama Tharchin Rinpoche used a concise prayer as the basis for presenting how Buddhist practitioners accumulate merit and wisdom through training in the Six Paramitas (the transcendent perfections of generosity, ethical conduct, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom) and meditating upon the four immeasurable attitudes of love, compassion, joy, and equanimity. Rinpoche teaches how, by engaging in the key practices of the Mahayana path along with making the vast bodhisattva aspiration to gain awakening for the benefit of all sentient beings, we can accomplish both short-term happiness and the lasting happiness of fully awakened buddhahood for ourselves and all beings.

Lama Tharchin Rinpoche draws upon the words of his root lamas, Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche and Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche, to show us how to use skillful means and sublime insight to naturally liberate our afflictive emotions and reveal our innate buddha nature. The best technique, they say, is through praying to our guru, and thus reveal the three kayas essence, intrinsic nature, and compassion. Lama Tharchin Rinpoche’s deep devotion to his gurus and the example of their infallible wisdom is evident and moving in this heartfelt teaching.

Rinpoche teaches in Tibetan with oral interpretation by Ngawang Zangpo as well as directly in English.
