On February 28, 2013, at the invitation of Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche gave a teaching on "Je Tsongkhapa's Instructions" to the students of Rangjung Yeshe Institute in Ka-Ning Shedrub Ling, Kathmandu, Nepal.

Rinpoche taught Je Tsongkhapa's famous text in verse, "The Three Principles of the Path".  He expounded on the three essential features of the path to enlightenment: renunciation, Bodhicitta and wisdom, as well as the relationship between them.

སློབ་དཔོན་ཆེན་པོ་པདྨ་འབྱུང་གནས་ལྷོ་ནུབ་སྲིན་པོའི་ཡུལ་དུ་གཤེགས་པའི་དུས༔ མང་ཡུལ་གུང་ཐང་ལ་ཐོག་ཏུ་ཡེ་ཤེས་མཚོ་རྒྱལ་གྱིས་ཕྱག་དང་བསྐོར་བ་བྱས༔ གུ་རུའི་ཞབས་སྤྱི་བོར་བླངས་ནས་སྨོན་ལམའདི་ལྟར་བཏབ་པ༔
The great master Padmasambhava was on the verge of leaving Tibet for the south-west and the land of the rākṣasas, when, high up upon the Gungthang Pass in Mangyul, Yeshé Tsogyal prostrated before him and circumambulated him. Then she placed his feet upon the crown of her head, and made this prayer of aspiration:

Sachu melung jungwa’i barche kyi
When obstacles of the elements; earth, water, fire, and wind arise,

Gyelü nyenching jigpa’i dujung tse
If it becomes dangerous for both humans, animals and their dwelling places,

Yidnyi tetsom meypar solwa deb
Pray intensely to Guru Rinpoche without doubt.

Orgyen Jungwa zhiyi lhamor chey
He is (Padmasambhava) surrounded by the four element goddesses,

Jungwa rangsar zhiwar tetsom mey
Who will definitely pacify all dangers.

Orgyen Pema Jungney la solwa deb
I pray to the guru, the lotus born.

Sampa lhungyi drubpar jingyi lob
May you fulfill our wishes spontaneously.

This prayer will definitely make a difference.

Wulstan Fletcher holds degrees in Modern Languages and Theology (Oxford and Rome). Wulstan completed three-year retreat at Chanteloube, France, 1986–1989. He is a member of the Padmakara Translation Group, Dordogne, France and has been a Tsadra Foundation Fellow since 2001. He is also a teacher of modern languages.

In Spring 2006 at Open Secret Bookstore in San Rafael, California, Lama Tharchin Rinpoche taught on how the phenomenal world and its inhabitants came into being, what makes our experience of this world worse, and how we can make it better, saying:

“During this degenerate time when our mental habits are becoming grosser, our afflictive emotions are becoming more turbulent, and our outer circumstances are becoming increasingly difficult, how we can accomplish not only the noble goal of world peace but go beyond that to attain universal peace? The degeneration part is the bad news! The good news is that according to Guru Rinpoche Padmasambhava’s Dzogchen Great Perfection teachings, however strong the afflictive emotions you have, that much greater wisdom you have. These are like the two sides of your hand. Which side do you want to turn up and which side do you want to turn down? We have a choice. We have a chance.”
