SC born, Manhattan raised. Lamontra Ham is a down-to-earth, charismatic, energetic, beacon of fire & truth. He was born in Orangeburg, SC July 30, 1995 and spent some of his early childhood years living in Harlem, NY. Lamontra would return to Columbia, SC & spend many summers in Harlem on 125th st with family members.

Lamontra’s love for music started at a very young age as he was surrounded 
by the love for hip hop. His New York relatives, one of his older cousins being a DJ, who played for their family parties and events. He would let Lamontra check out the vinyl covers and practice scratching, loops and the breaks. His older cousin would then hand little Lamontra the mic and let him shine at the ripe age of 3.

At the age of 9, Lamontra was infatuated, inspired and morally obsessed with punchlines, lyricism and story telling. He began writing down lyrics from his favorite Hip hop artists such as “50 Cent”, “Nas” and “2pac”. 

He began writing his own lyrics and poems at the age of 13. Sharpening his lyrical tools during his classroom sessions, which would lead him to getting scolded by his teachers. 

Lamontra’s undoubtable drive to entertain and awe, carried forth with him all the way to Orangeburg-Wilkinson HighSchool. During his teen years he took classes in Music Production, Theatre, & Chorus. He began recording, engineering and producing his own sound at age 16. 

While on his quest for hip hop stardom he built some tight bonds and relationships wit friends and other hip hop acts that shared his tastes in music. 

At age 18, Lamontra was in the proper stages of carefully starting his solo career. By the age of 20, Lamontra was heavily influenced by the solo careers of Kanye West, Tupac, & Eminem. 

Growing up in SC & NY transformed Lamontra into a Hip Hop Chameleon, who is open to serenade a diverse audience, and styles in Hip Hop. The songs he produces can fluctuate & blossom from any soil he plants the mic in. 

Lamontra Ham offers vibes across a variety of Hip Hop genres: Boom Bap, Neo Soul, R&B, Trap, Weed Rap and Trip Hop. He enjoys fusing smooth jazz samples and experimental traps assembled with Hip hop drum loops lace with whimsical adaptable lyrics.

Lamontra Ham has always been a truthteller & aims to take his fans through the journey and struggles of a young Melinated man navigating oppression.  Living it’s means to be a Black man in a world that serves whiteness. He uses his voice to uplift the youth who want to live free. Lamontra offers messages of inspiration, introspection, & self-awareness. He prides himself on making music with messages that can be applied in everyday life.

Lamontra Ham’s first single “Ain’t Worth Spending” (released in 2019), had a nice run on local SC radio station “Hot 103.9’s” Exclusively Indie Artists rap playlist. His song was played every Sunday from September to December of 2019.
 
Lamontra Ham is now working on new sounds that reflect his growth in his life and entertainment. He strives to be more intentional & cohesive in his efforts to becoming a Hip Hop legend.
