The track is a tribute to Arina's cat Mamasei who now got his own track. "Mamasei is 8 years old, I found him on the street and decided to adopt. I love the sound of his name and somehow it alsoo fits for this track. It's also a word game for Mama Say" says Arina Mur.

Arina Mur - Mamasei (Original Mix) [Out now on HMWL]

This is the second part of my Nodes series. In this track I wanted to build a melody over time and view it kind of like the output of a programming loop (a "for" or "while" loop). The melody extends by one note (or "node" if you will) with every iteration. Then there is another melody that builds in a similar manner, I felt like letting them play side by side as they were being built just to see what melodic structure would come out of it. 

I struggled a bit with this one. Since it doesn't come from my usual inspirations but from a rather mechanical idea I had trouble connecting with it and thus it felt boring and I didn't know where to go with it creatively. 

But I kept returning to it after some encouragement from friends and added something every time. It still felt a bit weird until the final piece was laid, then suddenly it all made sense! It wasn't until then I realized that by going back to it repeatedly, adding to it in small increments, I had become a part of the iterative process I tried to describe with the growing melodies. 

I actually WAS connected to it, just in different way.

The Door

The song “Sunken Skeleton” is the original title of the last song from my latest EP “The Constellation of a Pond”. But after a lot of reworking it got a slightly less dark title and was released under the name “The Moon’s reflection later that night”. So this is an earlier version of the same material, more drone and more, well, sunken.
Alpha Mound is the solo project of Joakim Westlund. Starting out with acoustic songs sprinkled with electronics the musical focused have since shifted to primarily electronic music in the form of ambient and soft-techno. Find more at:www.alphamound.com

01 Alpha Mound - Sunken Skeleton

Started as an experiment in Ableton Live with midi-effects that creates random outcomes from a single note. The notes are then processed with threshold values stopping some and letting others pass through. The remaining notes are then harmonically transposed to confirm to a set scale. The randomness has then been edited to a degree that they no longer appear random. Other instruments has since then been added.

Every year Lamour Records present the BWLM compilation with music previously never released, with artist related or loved by the company. The compilation will show the broad spectra of music that relates to Lamour, from floating ambient and abstract art music to pulsing house and techno. We do this – because we love music!
