Intelligent Manners - Night Grooves #24 - Megapolis 89'5 FM 22.01.2014

Volume 6 of Old Breaks Mixes pays homage to tracks from around 2005 onwards, a time when breaks music was finding a more solid base of productions styles with fat beats and fat bass lines. You'll find tracks from some well known producers of the time such as 601, Future Funk Squad and The Rogue Element to name a few. 2005 was also a time of more upfront party music with limited pads and atmospheres from the early 2000's and more of a funky progressive edge to the music.

The new tracks in the first hour ranged from electro sounds to classic dancefloor bangers. We also took a look at three tracks from producer Soul Wun's new album Blue Light, a moody trip into 90s history with modern sound design. And we had a guest in the studio! Budapest-based producer and musician OIEE presented his great album Two Sides, which included a collaboration with Steve Dub, the award-winning producer of The Chemical Brothers' albums. Bence (OIEE) also talked about the Hungarian scene and his relationship with Prague.

It would have been difficult to find a label that would release the album as a whole so I decided to split it and I'll give individual tracks to different labels.

You’re on the cusp of climax, holding your sausage hostage, about to witness the conception of a new age of s̶p̶u̶n̶k̶ funk. Ladies and Gentlemen, @scourrecords are super proud to present Mr Stabalina’s highly anticipated follow up EP – ‘Do You Like It’.

On his rare days off from playing with his organ, the hyper-sexualised Mr Stabalina has been fiendishly plundering the internet planes, jazz cafes, and porn stashes gathering samples, bass licks and obscure vocals so prolifically that the hard drive behind his sticky keyboard is all but fit to burst.

It’s been a long long time coming, but thankfully his hoarded samples have been discharged - and laced with his own super slick original instrumentation - to crank out this delectable EP. ‘Do You Like It’ is a natural progression from where he left us with 2016’s ‘Rock the Party’ - chock-full of funky cuts, nostalgic throwbacks, eargasmic production and lube.

While good ol’ Mr S’s first release was s̶e̶m̶e̶n̶a̶l̶ seminal in the funky breaks scene, he’s spent the past two years honing his skills, style, and bone to produce these five tracks so undeniably funky that dance floors around the globe are about to blow their load.
