A: "I’m really into romantic/emotional techno/footwork/dnb lately. What that means to me is music that really pulls on your heartstrings, makes you think about all the love lost and all the love you’ll find in your future. It makes you think about all your hopes in dreams just through those beautiful chords. It gives you tears in the club! I’d call it emo tech haha"

Howl collective member MVCOKO is a DJ, set designer and web designer based in London. As a DJ, the Chicago native tends to blend jersey club with techno, ghetto house with acid and footwork with drum n bass to keep the energy of her dancefloor bouncy and bubbly. Previous gigs with her Howl family and the @riposte_uk crew have helped her profile blossom in London, but no matter where she performs, MVCOKO always delivers the heat.

MIX: Paint the forest with bass

For this episode and for the followings, I wanted to give the floor to some artists I admire and respect a lot. I believe everyone has ideas, a voice, opinions they want to fight for. I believe we can aspire for a better future world through music. Today, I have invited @swooh to record a Mixing for a Cause podcast.

MFC 24: Swooh - Tomorrow's World

Driven by her love for electronic music genres like House and UK Garage, Swooh starts producing her own tracks in 2013. Fastly, she discovers different sub-genres of Techno and searches how to blend House and Techno in a personal way. In 2015, she does her first steps into Djing mixing House and Techno as she does when she creates tracks. She is still exploring all the diversity of these two universes and her latest crushes were for Ghetto Techno and Electro. Warm and federative, her music is designed to make people dance, smile and dream.

For this mix, she wanted to raise awareness about the environmental emergency.

“The sixth report of the IPCC presents a damning future, ecology is a subject that many people talk about, but it is not taken seriously. It is not at the center of political discussions. Large industrial groups continue and will continue their business without thinking that it is because of the ignorance of the ecological emergency that we will live in a world that will be devastated by the consequences of this over-consumption of fossil fuels and resources.

Earth Overshoot Day is a telling example of this over-consumption. It corresponds to the date of the year from which humanity is supposed to have consumed all the resources that the planet is capable of regenerating in one year. This notion was created and calculated by the American NGO Global Footprint Network.

For example, France reached Earth Overshoot Day on May 5, 2022, and the U.S.A. reached Earth Overshoot Day on 13 March 2022.”

Aninowa is a baby DJ based in Warsaw, Poland. She started her journey as a dancer and participant of techno parties. She now combines her dancing experience with her love for techno and electro music in energetic mixes. She played in such clubs as Project Lab, Luzztro, Spawalnia, Odessa or Jasna1. In the last one she played as her voguing alter ego - Novia Femina, at a ball that she organised with Kiki House of Femina, of which she is a member.
