After releasing their critically acclaimed debut single ‘Stillstand’ on Local Suicide’s label Iptamenos Discos the Austrian duo Wiener Planquadrat are returning with their new ‘Dschungel’ EP which includes remixes by legendary electro-punk producer T.Raumschmiere, London-based infamous artist Birds and the uprising disco producer Tech Support.

The title track ‘Im Dschungel’ is a feel-good disco-pop / indie dance tune that speaks about the urban jungle of Vienna. The exuberant combination of arpeggio distortions, sizzling synths keys and jolly vocals transport listeners right in the middle of bubbly and chaotic Viennese jungle. 

The B-side ‘AIV’ (short for Alles ist Viel) is a dark disco hymn composed of polyphonic plucked synths, classic 80s beat, and distorted arp brassy sounds, while the vocals evoke the wilderness of a tangled and jumbled mind.

T.Raumschmiere, an artist of multiple facets ranging from punk techno to experimental ambient, maneuvers ‘Im Dschungel’ with abstract and minimalist tones. A steady remix with kick and bass at the forefront wrapped up with bright looping keys. 

Birds twists ‘Im Dschungel’ with an acid bassline, dark metallic strings, and adds mystical vocals showcasing her talent to merge multiple atmospheres into one track and always thrive for edginess and originality. 

‘AIV’ is revisited by London-based Tech Support, who gives it an all-around bouncy and elegant groove, harmoniously matched with spacey effects, bright bells, and screechy synths.

Wiener Planquadrat is formed by Maximilian Atteneder from Catastrophe & Cure and Michael Weiler, a former member of Luv Shack's Burning Tears. Their work is a union of their two musical background: a mixture of indie, dark disco, and a decent portion of French electro, reminiscing the times they first met. In 2021, they released their critically acclaimed debut single “Stillstand”, which went up onto the top 10 tracks of Austria’s most important youth radio station FM4, was highlighted as track of the day by Byte FM, received glowing reviews on the blogosphere and was described as the “perfect feel-good-disco-track” by German leading electronic print magazine FAZE, while receiving support by DJs such as Joris Voorn, John Digweed, Phunkadelica, Sean Johnston & Damon Jee among others.

The ‘Dschungel’ EP is an electrifying collection of tracks showcasing each artists' distinctive style and colourful palette of musical artistry. It will be released on a strictly limited clear Dubplate 12” and made available digitally on all platforms on April 22nd, 2022.

With friends and cohorts like these, you can't be sad for long. After the longest and best-ever and final closing, the saddest, best-ever and most personal record on the Bar25 label is here. As pure dumb numerical luck would have it, it is - naturally - the 25th release. And, we're almost proud to say, it's strictly family business. The closing record speaks more to the spirit of the Bar than any words, spoken or written, ever could. Every track unique yet well-rounded, somewhere between universal and personal. Awash with emotion, as though the sound machines had begun to breathe.
While everyone else was already in full swing and enjoying the last warm rays of sunshine, Dirty Doering was ensconced in the studio, tackling the difficult job of producing THE closing track on short notice. He succeeded. That's because Doering is on a roll. "bye bye bar25" is the track that was sent through all the speakers at the closing, and will remain in our ears and hearts from now on. 
The level of the challenge Doering faced becomes apparent when listening to what he had to measure up to: the soundtrack to the 2009 closing, Acid Pauli's "Abschied25". Adapted from a Bonnie 'Prince' Billy song, with the Bar in mind, this track made us happy and sad at the same time over and over again in the last year. The release of this track now, finally, is something of an inner opening party for us all.
Caspar spent most of this summer on duty at the backstage door, checking a neon rainbow of bracelets. Then he surprised everyone as Capey Cash with his own personal love song, "There Was A Bar". His aptly put lyrics and his rich voice in combination with the wistful sounds of trumpet and harmonica brought tears to many an eye - and nevertheless his track is full of hope.

Musically and emotionally, Superpitcher’s third full-length studio album, The Golden Ravedays is a one sound autobiography that exhibits the skill, feeling and style that the artist has honed over a period of twenty years, musically, and forty-plus- years, emotionally. And full-length it is: The Golden Ravedays is an epic album of 24 longer than usual tracks that was released in January 2017 and is stretching over 12 respective chapter albums during a one-year period.

The 11th edition of The Golden Ravedays album will be released on Hippie Dance in November 2017. Side A brings Brothers. With two decades of spinning experience in disco’s, nightclubs, festival arenas, shady after-party zones and intimate studio soirees there is no doubt that Superpitcher is seasoned in throwing a damn good party. Brothers is party personified and a celebration of the night and the wise owls that respect its magical rituals. Its ultra-chic disco groove and dreamy female vocals transport one to a carnival of blessings.

Side B features Sleepy Head, a hypnotic lullaby carefully tucked away in a hammock that rocks to and fro like dozing mermaids in a wavy curtain of seaweed. Sleepy Head is a smart artistic statement and whimsical pause just before the release of the grand finale of the The Golden Ravedays saga.

Höga Nord Rekords have had the opportunity to work with Al Lover twice before during the last four years and now it’s time for the next step in the relationship between them, this time with the 7” single ”Dark Matter Discotheque / Mark E. Moon”. In these tracks, Lover’s influences mainly stems from a decadent eighties New York or Paris and you can almost smell the heavy perfume mixed with indoors smoking get the feeling of sitting in a room with mirror walls.

Right away, listening to the opening bars of ”Dark Matter”, you can tell that Lover is on to something new and different from his previous Höga Nord-releases. In some ways you hear similarities to ”Zodiak Versions” (2015) but on these two tracks of the 7”, Lover has left the German regions of Europe and the 70’s behind to instead embrace an updated 80’s sound. He comments the new direction with these words: ”'I'd say the influences for these tracks was mainly me wanting to do something different then I have before. I'm alwyas on to next idea, becoming bored with what I've already done”.
