Recife born/São Paulo based bass player, producer and founder of experimental label UIVO Records Rodrigo Coelho aka grassmass is not only a long time collaborator with influential names like Naná Vasconcelos, Arto Lindsay and Ivan Conti “Mamão”, but also hosts projects with some of today's brazilian edgiest talents Negro Leo and Thiago Nassif. Nicola Loporchio a.k.a. simply Nico Lahs is an accomplished and voracious producer from South Italy, who has been comfortably killing the game for more than 10 years now. Thankfully inheriting from his father’s musician background, which encompassed jazz, hip-hop and anything from Chicago, Detroit and New York, his signature sound naturally headed towards unadulterated deep house-centric jams combined with soulful grooves and atmospheric dreamy vibes. His first musical rise started in 2010 as it didn’t take very long for some respected labels such as Ovum (Josh Wink) and Poker Flat (Steve Bug) to notice him.  Until 2015, he was going on a European club crawl, distilling his house magic in the most prestigious venues like Club de Visionare, Tresor or Rex Club. The following 5 years marked a break from the ‘Nico Lahs’ project as he has been focusing on developing his other Cosmic Garden alias and his vinyl-only-related label Cosmic Rhythm. The past 2 years showed his long-awaited come back with his stately Detroit-influenced LP “Freedom” and his splendid disco edits in collaboration with Chez Damier, both on Pekin-based label Adeen Records.

The special mixtape he is serving up today for us features lots of delicious unreleased tracks from himself and his various side projects such as NLXLB. It merely breathes and exudes house music in its purest form with deep and raw notes. Close your eyes and enjoy.

Musically this has translated, to a beautiful series of works, inspired by musical cultures around the world, this Deep House album is infused with jazz, psychedelia , tribal and heartwarming sounds and grooves.
With exception to collaboration with Kudo Sol and Ilja Gussarov (on tracks B1 & C1 respectively) all instruments, as ever, are played, recorded, rearranged and mixed by Humble B Flat, with a more sample based approach to the rhythmic grooves.
Even our most unwanted changes and challenges, are Blessings of the Sun.

Max Essa's The Great Adventure is an album of his freshest recent tracks including 'Sundowning' - a real favourite of Hell Yeah founder Marco - and a first ever digital release of 'Peninsular,' which previously appeared on vinyl via the Aficionado label.

Japan based Essa runs his own Jansen Jardin label and in 2018 put out his excellent Lanterns LP on Music For Dreams, which he recently followed up with Oto No Wa - Selected Sounds of Japan 1988 - 2018, a compilation put together with Ken Hidaka and DR Rob. He has been active since the early 90s, putting out tranquil, thoughtful sounds on the likes of Warp, Is It Balearic? Recordings and Papereordings. His fans include late legends like Andrew Weatherall and David Mancuso and he has a busy DJ diary that takes him all over Asia and South America. His music always acts as a sonic raft that floats you out to sea and leaves you bobbing up and down in a state of pure bliss.

'Sundowning' is a brilliant slow motion dance with cathartic acoustic guitars, Mediterranean grooves and retro synths, while the rest of the tunes have been getting support from those who know, and that will only continue as we start to dance properly again.

This collection shows off Essa's mature take on dance floor heaters and slow motion chillers, with plenty in between.
