In the late Seventies, the New York DJ moved to Chicago at the behest of Robert Williams, who had opened the late night club the Warehouse and needed a resident. Frankie didn't just rise to the occasion, he created a way of playing music from disparate genres and making it seem cohesive — it became known as house music; and Knuckles became legendary through his edits, his grace and his style. Derrick May, who brought Frankie a 909 drum machine at the Power Plant to play with his edits, recalls, "Nothing comes close to those moments of magic, of fire, of power." The songs on this list aren't just highlights of a career, they are milestones in the development of house music on a global scale, and all electronic dance music that comes after it.

Captivating, this word alone defines what it feels like when your senses go on a magical journey while you groove the sounds of D ROYY. Roy Restrepo, better known by his followers as D ROYY, was born in Bogota, Colombia of Chinese and Colombian descent. Music was instilled in his mind since birth as his older brother was a known guitarist in the Bogota Orchestra. However, guitars and strings were not what caught this artist attention. He only heard the drums. At the tender age of 10 he picked up his first set of drumsticks and never looked back. 
His influences range from heavy metal bands such as Metallica,dream theater,black sabbath Megadeth, to Latin, pop artists like Juanes shakira, michael jackson Hip Hop artists like tupac ,notorious b.i.g. puff dady, rock bands like incubus deftones,gustavo cerati soul artists like sade ,.. making his sound and delivery truly unparalleled. His journey into the music world began at 15 years of age as he toured the upper east coast with his second band The Troublemakers. The drums were his passion, yet something was missing. It was time for a change. After a deep exploration into the house music scene his creative and musical fire was reignited but with a new direction, combining the skill of a drummer with the allure of being a DJ/producer. 
‘07 was his introduction into the DJ world putting together his own events at various venues throughout the New Jersey area. In ’09 he exploded into the NY house scene tearing up venues all over Queens and Manhattan. Places include Soel Lounge, System, Play Lounge for the Queens Music Festival, Pure Nightclub, Z Hotel, Glazz and more and thats just Queens. In Manhattan D36, Pacha, WIP, Greenhouse, Mansion, Le’Souk,Space Ibiza NY,Verboten Bk, Branch, Dream Hotel to name a few. From Dream Nightclub in the esteemed Hamptons area to Mekka in SOBE back to Elite Nightclub in Stamford, CT this artist has kept the people moving and the energy unmatched.



His understanding of the connection between someones vibe and the collective vibe of an event distinguish him from others and gives him an insight into how to alter those vibes and bring a party to life. Music is only the beginning. At the moment D ROYY is focusing on expanding his creativity through video editing and producing as well as collaborating with the top artists in his and other genres.
