This song was written for Song a Week 2021, on the prompt words through windows with reference to the village of Eyam in Derbyshire's experience of plague in the 1600s.

This track was written in November 1991 and recorded a couple of years later on an old multi-track tape. The copy here is a copy of the cassette tape, so a little rough as a result. 

The song is about the Balkan war. Yugoslavia is the country I remember my mother talking about and coming from, but in reality her family lived in both Serbia and Croatia.

Perhaps given the current war, this old song may have some resonance for some.

Beyond this heart

This track was written as I remembered the awful deaths of Chinese immigrants on Morecambe sands, and found some interviews with one of the men who survived. I have added a couple of harmonies. It is rough and ready as I don't yet know how to adjust the sound in garage band to get proper balance, but I would be glad to know what you think of it.
