This song is for the misunderstood introvert. For all of my fellow humans out there that almost always have something worthwhile to say. However, fear won't let the words escape that tender spot in our hearts where we like to keep things dear to us. For all of the people out there that desire a deep intimate connection with everyone they encounter; but this desire keeps us from an interest in meaningless banter. When we have elevated our minds above that which has no meaning it causes us to not have a whole lot to say. What I'm trying to say with this song is that I value you. No matter what walk of life you come from, your story is important to me. I desire to become closer to you so that we can elevate above the fluff and have conversations that will allow us to see each other in one another. Can we be closer?

This song takes on a second meaning for me personally. Ive learned that when we want to be closer to God, he is waiting for us to m make the first move. A daily prayer life will indeed change your relationship with the creator God and bring you closer to him!

Closer

Funny thing about this one, if you are unfamiliar with the genre of Drum and Bass, is that most songs contain a drum break. From its conception, the classic drum break in drum and bass music was named the "Amen Break."...lol... This is a Drum and Bass song of praise to the one true God who tells us in Matthew chapter 6 verse 33 "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." In the context of the passage, Jesus is teaching us not to worry about the things of this earth. In verse 27 he says "Which one of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" Our culture teaches us to seek after the things in this world. Pleasure, social media likes, money, significance, fame, relationships, a house, a car, the good life. Jesus teaches us that all of these things cause us to worry and feel anxious about being enough. He wants us to know that we are already enough, and that the most important thing that we can do is "store up for ourselves treasures in heaven." All of the things we seek after in this world, we can't take with us when we die. The most important thing we can do with our lives is seek after a personal relationship with Jesus. We gain a relationship with him through daily prayer, reading Gods word, and getting involved with christian community so that the word can be explained to us. Jesus also tells us, "seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened." This means that if we are really looking for the answers, if we don't understand the Bible, if we have tried and it "didn't work", then we need to keep seeking and keep knocking. If you earnestly seek, you will find the answers you are looking for, and God will enable your mind to fully understand his life saving power. You don't have to be afraid or anxious, I promise you that when we make a daily habit of seeking first a relationship with Jesus, all of the other things that we think are so important, things we can't take with us, will become meaningless. Then we can live a life free of captivity from material things and the opinions of others. This in turn leads to true happiness and fulfillment. Not to mention Eternal life. I love you!!!

Seek. A Real Amen Break

Many Believers in the Faith will tell you that the most difficult week of their walk with Christ was the week after they were baptized. Anytime we make a public declaration or a personal commitment to draw closer in our relationship with the Lord, inevitably the enemy will attack.  Satan wants us to question ourselves and feel as though we are losing something when we dedicate our lives to Jesus. This is also a reason why we see scandals amongst the Church. The enemy has no interest in attacking souls he is already in control of, he wants to attack his opposition's home base. I have experienced this time and time again, deciding to re-commit to my faith, and then schemes of the devil come in the form of wanting to please everyone and be liked, or in the form of temptation of things I have decided to give up. Mark 4:16-17 says,"Some people, like seed thrown on rocky places, hear the word and at once recieve it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away." Matthew 5:11 says "Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven." John 16:22 says "So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice and no one will take away your joy." and John 16:33 "I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble, But take heart! I have overcome the world." This song is an encouragement and reminder to myelf and my brothers and sisters to never turn back, but to keep our eyes on the Kingdom. It's coming soon AMEN!

Prepare The Way

My Papa passed away a few weeks ago. To commemorate my loving and hilarious grandfather I sampled a voicemail recording of him singing happy birthday to me. I also sampled his and my grandmothers song "The Twelfth of Never" by Johnny Mathis.

The primary goal of this project is to bring people together with music, and use the energy created by coming together to fight against poverty.
