This is a soundtrack to imaginary nightime streetscapes in a world that resembles our own.

Crumbling asphalt slick with oil and grease reflects the woozy glow of late night bodegas in acrid pink, yellow and green.

Drakkar Noir is a feceless figure who inhabits this world, an alias shamelessly lifted from a sleazy and long out-of-fashion scent, a brand name derived from a mashup of mythical pretensions and hollow advertising jargon. Part Human and part digital fiction, Drakkar Noir is, like the city itself, a shapeshifter who feeds and is fed by the collective dreams and nightmares floating above the buildings and into smoke-filled skies.

"Open Your Eyes," released on February 1, 2023, is an EP that marks an experimental phase in Ramon Inc.'s career, delving into the world of experimental phonk—a then-rising genre that the artist explored with curiosity and authenticity. With three tracks that transition between lo-fi beats, distorted samples, and dark atmospheres, the EP reveals a raw and bold sound, characteristic of phonk, but with a personal and introspective touch.

The first track, whose repetitive lyrics—"I ain't know nothing, nothing, nothing..."—reinforce a sense of emptiness and doubt, functions as a kind of mantra that conveys the search for identity and understanding amidst the noise and sonic confusion. This aspect reflects the EP's purpose, which, more than a fixed style, represents a moment of experimentation and self-discovery for Ramon Inc.

Although phonk served as a starting point, the artist, over time, realized that this path wasn't what he wanted to pursue, opting to focus on other genres that now define his musical signature. Thus, Open Your Eyes is both an honest record of that period and a symbol of the creative evolution that accompanies Ramon Inc.
