We were driving up highway 101 in central California this past Winter and noticed that the landscape was drier and browner than any Summer we'd lived through here. The lack of familiar Winter green shocked us, and we channeled that feeling into our music. "The Well" was born. We're excited to have the beautiful voices of Rising Appalachia singing in sweet harmony with us as we join the tradition of bringing song to a struggle in our community and raising awareness of the seriousness of this drought. 

We'd like to take this opportunity to help bring more thought to water conservation, not only when we're in a drought, but as a daily part of our lives. Water is a precious thing. We can all do our part to change our water-wasting ways and keep the wells from running dry. After feeling quite low for a few weeks, I decided to create this. A musical representation of cracking my skull open, spilling out the contents of my brain, and creating songs from it. Metaphorically of course... Therapy!

Recorded over 3 days in February 2013 in my girlfriend's front room.

A load of you were asking for some new music, well this is one I did toward the end of last year.

It's about those times we've all had, where we go out of our way to just be someone, maybe even someone who isn't really us, just to make an impression, to be controversial and just be heard, all the while pretending we're not.

Whatever it is that's bothering us, we just bleed our entire soul out to whoever wants to listen, and in some ways purposely play their ego, their trust, in making them believe they're the only one that's noticed, hoping they take all we've given them, and feel some kind of special connection... to validate our own existence.

...Boring I know :)
