This track was made, in part, by recording the sound of the wind whistling across the open light-hood of a swinging stoplight. I got the idea from the stoplight in Twin Peaks that was frequently used as an interstitial piece for the show episodes. I recorded it on a quiet night in the middle of my town of Williamston, Michigan. I took the recorded howl, stripped it of the noise, and had a low whistling tone that would come and go. I tuned it to match the key of this track so it would fit within the composition. Cellos and other stringed instruments make up the remaining sounds used.

As the melody of "The Wilds" fills the air, a sense of adventure and untamed beauty unfolds. The song begins with gentle, ethereal notes that evoke images of sprawling landscapes and vibrant wilderness. Layered harmonies build, creating a rich tapestry of sound that mirrors the wild spirit of nature. Competing tones weave, inviting listeners to lose themselves in the journey, painting vivid scenes of exploration and freedom that capture the essence of the wild. It's a sonic escape that resonates deeply, urging everyone to embrace the untamed paths ahead.
