This nocturne was written while I was planning a night out at a spare rib restaurant and touched up in the course of the next week. It starts in A-flat major before modulating to E-flat major, F major, F minor and finally back to A-flat major.

De opname van mijn eerste orkestwerk uitgevoerd door deFilharmonie onder leiding van Wim Henderickx. 
'Labyrinthos' is gebaseerd op de mythe over het grote Labyrint onder het paleis van Koning Minos te Kreta zo'n 4OOO jaar geleden. Volgens de mythe had Koning Minos er in de gangen van het labyrint zijn minotaurus rondlopen, een wezen dat half mens half stier was. Als boetedoening voor de moord op Minos' zoon moesten ieder jaar 7 jonge Atheense mannen en 7 jonge Atheense vrouwen het labyrint betreden om vervolgens verslonden te worden door de Minotaurus. Totdat Theseus kwam...

The recording of my first orchestral piece performed by the Royal Flemish Philharmonic with Wim Henderickx as the conductor. 
The piece is based on the ancient myth about a large Labyrinth under the palace of King Minos in Crete about 4000 years ago. According to this myth there was a creature named 'Minotaur' living in that labyrinth. As a punishment because the King's son was killed, every year 7 young men and 7 young women from Athens had to enter the labyrinth and would be eaten by the Minotaur. And then Theseus came..

Official recording of the symphonic poem 'Pro Patria Mori' - T. Hondeghem (2015) for soprano voice and symphonic wind band . This piece was commissioned by, dedicated to and performed by the royal wind band Ypriana (conducted by Nico Logghe). 

This recording was made during the premiere on 01/05/'15 during the concert 'Ypres As We Remember' in CC Het Perron in Ypres (BE).

As a forester's son, Richard Dehmel got his first impressions of nature, wandering the oak forests tended by his father and wrote this beautifull poem, the inspiration for this peace, he writes about an overwelming force, the beaty of being still and in this moment one with nature.
 
Morganandacht is written for a project in the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp for Ensemble XXI and as a Bacholor III exam. This project is a collaboration of the Composition department, Ensemble XXI and the Voice department.
 
Premiered wednesday 17 may 2017 - Witte zaal - Ensemble XXI onder leiding van Frank Agsteribbe - Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerpen.
