Inspired by the anything-goes attitude inherent to the Krautrock band Guru Guru’s mash-up piece ’Das Lebendige Radio’ (the lively radio) this monthly show is based on the ever growing collection of an avid record collector. 

Accompany Lars on his quest of finding musical gems, spending way too much money in the process and trying to make sense of it all by doing this monthly show. Das Lebendige Radio is back on the airwaves with its 15th episode. Prompted by a recent discovery of German indie/punk seven inches at a south east London record shop, the episode is a mix of Neue Deutsche Welle, Punk and kraut-y synth stuff. The whole thing should feel like one of these 80s newcomer compilations that brought together bands with so many different styles. It all begins with what sounds like the German version of legendary post-rock band Slint, then heads into some silly cod reggae and punk love songs, takes a kosmische synth detour and culminates in a Peruvian cover of an absolute minimal synth classic. Oh and don’t forget the rogue Welsh rave track in there that qualified because of its Kraftwerk feel. Shout out to my dad on this mix as a couple of records come from his old collection :) Enjoy the ride!

This episode is an ode to a lovely festival in Eastern Germany that I attended. In tune with the @cosmicgathering motto this month’s mix is a selection of cosmic tunes, ranging from disco to tribal, ragga and dub. I'm still dancing to all the good music I discovered at the festival and hope that this mix gets you in the mood as well… Enjoy!

The 17th Episode of Das Lebendige Radio is inspired by a recent trip to the eternal city of love on the other end of the Euro tunnel. This episode is full of love songs with just the right amount of stinky cheese sprinkled on top. ‚Das Lebendige Radio‘ is back on @rtm.fm with my first mix of 2023. It’s made up of a few records I picked up in Germany over the holidays, recent finds from the past couple of weekends and re-discoveries that I had forgotten about.

The whole thing starts off with a lovely track from Garagen Uwe’s latest album on beatbude records. Next up is an edit from the @commonedit series by Dane. Followed by a few more experimental NDW tracks and a song from probably the album I listened to most over the past months. It’s from a brilliant affirmations-meets-synth-pop-project called Will Powers and is aptly called ‚Dancing for mental health’ 🕺💃 We also got an MJ lovers rock cover and one of the OG Project Pablo/@ppatrickholland tracks in the mix. But…. Most important of all! Lars finally managed to play one of the Terrasolare releases. Thanks Lorenzo for putting out such lovely music!

🐖 I discovered Los Porcos what feels like ages ago and really fell for their lovingly relaxed mix of indie pop and disco. Having recently rediscovered my love for them via their regular show on @AltoRadio, broadcasting out of Leeds.

🥓 The mix includes hip hop from both US coasts, South African bubblegum and kwaito and the biggest dude in Brazilian pop music! So many classics in this one and maybe there is even some new pork music hidden in there 😋

😉 I am a bit proud of this one... It’s a percussion heavy collage of jazz, folk and some kraut featuring tracks of @taraclerkintrio, @Kulku and Kahil El’Zabar. I saw each of them individually over the past 2 years or so and they have been my favourite gigs since I moved to London.

🙏 One day I hope to see all of them together. For now, this mix does just that.
