It's funny how song writing works. Sometimes you break out the 12-string Rickenbacker guitar and you think you're writing a love song in the style of Tom Petty. Next thing you know, as the chord progressions and lyrics come together, it takes you to an entirely different place and you end up writing a break-up song that sounds more like a boy band than Tom Petty. Such was the case with this song. I drew from personal experiences and thought of friends with similar situations. What developed was one helluva break-up song with an interesting plot twist. Enjoy! 😁

Larz Holiday - Contagious

This song was written in 1991 for Jaycee Lee Dugard who was kidnapped on June 10, 1991 while walking to her school bus stop in South Lake Tahoe, California. She was eleven years old. This became the "official" song of the search effort which received national attention on America's Most Wanted and in People Magazine, among other shows and publications. Jaycee was miraculously recovered on August 26, 2009 after spending 18 years in captivity in a backyard of a home in Antioch, California. Her abduction/recovery is now regarded as one of the most celebrated in modern American history.

Post Recovery Acknowledgements: After Jaycee's miraculous recovery, this song was featured on E! Entertainment Television's one-hour documentary special. Currently, this song (and story of it's recording) is memorialized in a display at the Alcatraz East Crime Museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Yes, there was 1999 by Prince which was an amazing song for the millennium. There's New Year's Day by U2, which is a great song in it's own right but falls short of having that party celebration vibe. Larz Holiday - New Year's Day

In the early 1980's the L.A. band Ledger was a frequent player in the Hollywood and Southern California heavy metal club scene. Playing along side bands like; Quiet Riot, Ratt, Steeler, Great White and others - Ledger worked hard at showcasing originals and playing anywhere they could. By 1985, the band had all but disbanded. What survived was this unfinished track "Standing In The Line". This particular track was resurrected from a crude cassette recording and brought back to life by Larry William Dietsch - rhythm guitarist and little brother of band founder Rick Dietsch. 

This is song is dedicated to the memory of Rick Dietsch who was passionate about music and rock and roll. He was an amazing drummer and brother who never gave up his dream of making music and making a difference in the lives of his friends and loved ones. Tragically, Rick Dietsch succumbed to throat cancer on March 29, 2025 at the age of 69 after a years-long battle. He is greatly missed and will never be forgotten.

Ledger - Standing In The Line

This song was written and first performed by the L.A. band Ledger back in early 1980's. Ledger was a local band who played the L.A. club scene and opened shows for Quiet Riot, Ratt and others. I will never forget the day singer John Michaels came to rehearsal and said "I wrote some lyrics for that new song you guys have been working on!" When I heard the lyrics, I was absolutely blown away. This song quickly became my favorite song to play with Ledger. This remake is dedicated to the memory of my brother Richard Michael Dietsch who passed away on March 29, 2025. Though the original crude cassette recording could not be salvaged, drummer Brian Harris did an outstanding job replicating many of the beats and fills that my brother played with such passion.

In the mid 1970's, one of my early guitar heroes was James Williamson. As teenagers, myself and childhood friend CC Rider would jam along to the Raw Power album at maximum volume. Many times, our parents would crash through the bedroom door demanding we turn the music down. Of course, there is only one volume setting to listen to Search and Destroy and that is FULL BLAST. So crank it up and enjoy one of the greatest punk rock songs of all time as we pay tribute to Iggy & The Stooges.

In this cover, the recording band Larz Holiday reaches back to the 1980's to remake an iconic song. This song earned Phil Collins his first Grammy Nomination in 1984. The words are dark in tone and it's angry nature was directed at Collin's failed first marriage. As with all Phil Collins songs, the drums were a major focal point. In this cover, Larry Williams enlists the amazing drumming of Brian Harris, ditches the keyboards, cranks up the distortion on the guitars and shreds an epic punk rock cover. Sit back, crank it up and get ready for the ride of your life. You can exhale at the end. :)
