Born in Melbourne and residing in Berlin for the last 5 years. Lask has been around the music scene since her childhood as a festival kid. Getting stuck into making music with synths and guitars as a teenager it seemed only right to learn production and start dijng. After releasing over 20 tracks, and djing numerous clubs and festivals around Australia and Europe, Lask’s set her sights on hardware live sets as the next phase of her musical journey.

Really enjoyed creating something a little different, loved getting in to the darker textures and swampy vibes then ending it on a more light minimal note.

Lask - Studioslave [SYVA003A]

Drifting was written at the start of 2023 using the Digitakt, Dreadbox Typhon, and Ableton's Wavetable. Inspired by a sound I heard from a set at Zenner over NY. I wanted to create this in-and-out staccato noisy sound that was using the same programming as a legato note on a long LFO time in the back. I wanted to create one main sound using two channels bleeding in and out of each other. The results ended up as Drifting.

We premiere some slinky techno from Berlin based Lask as she features on W133. The diverse producer provides a wonky trip through FM synths and grainy atmospheres as she provides a club-tool that is both weird and wonderful.

Lask and Prieste5s step up for an exciting new release on W133, releasing a split EP with two original tracks from each of these dexterous Berlin-based producers. The release drops both digitally as well as on vinyl with a limited run of dubplates.

Prieste5s, a devoted live-coder, producer, and DJ showcases her passion for bass-heavy and breaky beats in her two tracks on Side A. On the B side, Lask proves her talent with her carefully crafted productions.

We premiere MagPipez a fast-paced techno gem that boasts a wealth of intricate sounds and weird tweaks. Lask crafts a wonky synth line that lays over the top of rolling-bass and creaking effects. This is beautifully strange in the best kind of way.

The release features two original tracks from each artist, both showcasing their hight quality and precision productions. Released as a limited edition dub plate with Prieste5s on the A side and Lask on the B side, the EP showcases energetic techno and today we premiere this razor sharp track from Lask.

Was such an awesome opportunity to play my first live techno orientated set at Berlins oldest techno club. The sound in there was amazing and the crowd was so full of energy. 

Its nice to go in with a bit of a plan but be able to take the energy from the crowd and drive the machines in to new places i didn't plan on. All my favourite parts happened with non planned/programmed elements.

 Its so cool to have the recording, otherwise who knows what even happened in that one hour, things go by so quick.

This year I was part of a collaboration with visual artist Hekuli for Tempelhof Flughafen's 100 birthday event. 

For 100 hours straight Tempelhof was open to the public, presenting art exhibitions, live music, films, and more. An audio-visual collaboration between myself and Hekuli was featured in the main hall, running for over 12 hours throughout the event.  

This is the one-hour ambient soundscape I composed, primarily from one-take recordings of my hardware - Digitakt, Octatrack, Dreabox Typhon and Hades.

Closing the beast of a stage known as the Halfway House, In my element with dust storms rising from the dancefloor at the most appropriate times, police in their car at the back of the stage flashing their lights dancing out the window, and all my magical friends supporting me in what has been the most incredible journey to get to where i have in this small amount of time.

What an absolutely incredible opportunity I was given to close out my favourite crews stage at Esoteric 2020. 

Closing sets are by far my favourite sets to play and being given this responsibility was so epic. It will go down as possibly my favourite set to date and I really hope all that were there enjoyed it and all who are listening now, enjoy it.
