World Canvas has a pleasure to introduce a new and exciting addition to the platform’s roster, a Helsinki-based mystical entity and artist nenúhîr. Having slowly honed their craft, following a string of self-released songs, album and recorded live performances, nenúhîr presents their new EP ‘đarva’ which brings together extracted sounds from YLE (Finnish National Radio) archives and abrasive electronic composition, featuring additional saxophone instrumentation from werna. The world of 'đarva' is a glimpse into a fantastical body of tar, as reflected on the release’s title - an allusion to Finnish terva and its historically binding qualities in and around the agrarian societies.
‘đarva’s and nenúhîr's storytelling capabilities shine most bright through its passages where sparse moments give way for imagining and submerging oneself into a bleak, yet beautiful pond of terva.
