VGM Challenge - A Pirate's Life For Me - Lassi Tiainen

Day 5 of the composition daily-challenge. Decided to try something simple with the music box / thumb piano quest. 

Originally attempted to write something more active, but as I started writing, I was reminded of this old music box in the form of this tiny pastel pink piano... how I would play it and wind it up as I started to noticed the notes patter off-beat and how much that annoyed me!! So I ended up writing something more gentle and welcoming.

Chrono Trigger's To Good Friends (Epilogue Theme) was also one of the things that came in mind as I wrapped up this track.

Not gonna lie, my sample pack for thumb piano is pretty garbage, but as I've composed more and more, I've come to realize that this challenge is less about polished tracks and more about getting my creative juices out there and push myself to compose with constraints and new parameters. So far, it's been an interesting journey!

Day 7 of the VGM madness, it's been a week. Huzzah!

This one's dedicated to a friend of mine named Beeolante, she recently suggested that I compose the "sauciest" of musics, so here I am with a tango! Piano lays out the A minor foundation, the viola leads, and the violin follows suit.

Couldn't find many vg tracks that had tango except Earthbound's "Hotel" theme, so I referred to that along with using my knowledge on the tango shenanigans in general.

VGMA 21-Days composition challenge: I wanted to make a real chiptune track with a classic Mega Man feel.

Day 16 and I'm taking this day super easy to reserve my energy for the rest of the week. Decided to make a callback to Day 4 and create a Game Over theme based on that track. Not too different from the original other than the harp and piano combination here instead of strings and piano. Gives it an even more somber feeling imo.

"Do you remember now? This is the place where you fought hard and died..."

VGMA 21-Days composition challenge: A track with a swinging rhythm. I instantly wanted to make an energetic composition with a Big Band arrangement. I should get the EastWest Composers Cloud again and redo this track with the awesome Hollywood Brass but I think this is good enough for now.
