Wrapping up this eventful year for Last Night On Earth - we have one more release that we have been treasuring for months now. Off the back of ‘Nalo’ - his collaboration with Sasha on the LNOE TEN compilation - @laketurner solo LNOE debut is out now with his four-track EP; ‘Further Now’.

Andrew Halford aka Lake Turner is a London-based musician who previously made music in post-punk and indie groups Great Eskimo Hoax (Rallye) and Trophy Wife (Moshi Moshi). His debut full length ‘Videosphere’ was released on Kompakt in 2020 receiving plaudits from The Guardian. It was the first time he fully articulated his own vision of electronic music.

The kaleidoscopic ‘Further Now’ EP showcases Lake Turner’s ever expanding sonic palette in the electronic realm, and brings some fresh angles - including a triumphant collaboration with Brazilian producer Gui Boratto.

Lake Turner: "Automat is a title that refers to the ways of city life & its automated nature. An automat itself is a vending machine for fast food which is like a modern day totem for life on the grid. The ebb & flow of the city can sometimes be intense and hyper-vivid & the track is a reflection of that."

Andrew expertly weaves a sonic thread through the record via a series of instantly identifiable vocal samples and melodic themes , which flow in and out your awareness - and all the while retaining his love for infectious grooves.

This months Last Night On Earth podcast is a live mix recorded from a little show Sasha did at Nagai Ibiza last month. There's a lot of breaks and ambient sounds in here which was perfect for Sasha to play to a more intimate crowd.

Rising star Qrion and Sasha collaborate on ‘Dry & High’, the latest release from Last Night On Earth’s TEN campaign as Sasha celebrates this key landmark for his imprint with ten collaborations and ten global special events.

Qrion has been clocking up the milestones herself - DJ Mag’s Future Star 2021, one of Forbes Japan’s 30 Under 30, North American headline tours… the Japanese producer’s debut LP on Anjunadeep, ‘I Hope It Lasts Forever’ was also listed in Billboard 20 Best Dance Albums 2021. Her LNOE debut ‘Monolith’ in last year’s LNOE Introducing Vol.1 plus releases on labels like Mad Decent and Ultra Music, her support from BBC’s Pete Tong, Danny Howard and Sian Eleri, her remixing chops attracting artists like Alina Baraz, Lane 8, Catching Flies – all this makes her a shoo-in as one of the LNOE ‘TEN’.

Her style is eclectic, using sounds around her in her music, playing with genres, times, and textures to create a deeply individual hypnotic style of deceptively gentle house. ‘I love Qrion’s music and it was great to have her release on the label last year, her track did really well and the fans loved her’ Sasha says. ‘I sent her this demo which I’d been toying around with, she really connected with it and I loved what she sent back. We went back and forth on it a bit and it just came together really easily.’
‘Dry & High’ is a lo-fi feast, with a sweetly melodic vocal phased, fuzzed and shaped into an instrument over a stealthy cat-feet beat and quietly growling bass. A meditative musical mandala for those blissed-out club moments or intimate listening.

“I am so honoured to be able to collaborate with one of my favourite artists and love how the track ended up’ Qrion says. ‘Sound wise you can hear the elements unique to each of our producing styles. You can hear his classic style of bass and progressions and my vocal chops and melodic pad. I can’t wait to play it at the club!’

The track follows Sasha’s recent TEN collaborations with Photek, Alex Banks, Mr. Sosa and Pumarosa, all of which have been garnering strong support across top tier press and radio.

Lake Turner: "Working with Gui on Repeater was super special for me;  his music was a gateway into the electronic world I currently operate in. He was one of the first electronic producers I heard using guitars in techno music & as a guitar player it signalled to me that it was acceptable to do so. Ironically there's no guitars in the track we made together but do feel like what we've created is fresh out of the can."

After a great response from Ejeca’s ‘Frequency‘ EP previously released on Sasha's imprint 'Last Night On Earth' in January 2013, the label continues to support his sound by releasing a new 4 track EP called ‘Contemplation’ that will be available on the 14th July consisting of a wide range of electronics from Ejeca’s many musical influences.
Never one to stick with a particular sound for too long, Ejeca has constantly explored numerous styles, reflecting his own eclectic taste in music and shows that he has no strict music policy. Just good quality and interesting electronic music, which is exactly what ‘Contemplation’ and Last Night On Earth are all about.

Newcastle born Cristoph returns to Sasha’s Last Night On Earth with three more immersive excursions.

The entire EP is laced with drama, detail, tension and release. ‘The Duel’ smoulders with momentum, unrelenting energy and focus. Building on the distinctive signature Cristoph has developed on the likes of Pryda Presents, Noir, Bedrock, Warung, Suara, it sets the scene for the rest of the EP. 

‘Revolver’ follows with a barbed sense of poignancy as sweeping minor chords characterise the track with heavy emotion. Revolving and rebuilding with fluidity throughout, it’s another piece of precision engineering from Christoph.

Finally we have ‘Tremble’, a rolling cut piqued by rippling arpeggios and a bulbous sub that’s so strong it warms up the entire track. Then the breakdown blasts into one of Cristoph’s most euphoric, feel-heavy moments to date and the rest is history.

After almost 8 years as a platform for new and established artists as well as for Sasha’s own productions, Last Night On Earth is a global success. Finally seeing the light of day is Sasha's take on Hot Chip’s “Flutes".  Having been a firm favourite and closing track of many of his recent sets, he twists it in to his classic melodic vibe that only he does so well, taking the original into a new dimension for the clubs and festivals.

Beautiful synth work builds and breaks throughout the track, with tight drum programming keeping the track flowing and taking you on a melodic journey, as only Sasha can do.

LNOE is closing off the year with another collaboration from Sasha, this time alongside rising star Franky Wah. This release gives a taste of the musical ties between the two and paints a unique picture across the 4-track EP. Franky Wah has been making a name for himself releasing on labels such as Afterlife and Ministry Of Sound amongst others.

‘Haunted’ the title track shows instantly that the combination of these two artists is certainly not a gimmick and sets the tone for the release. Franky commenting on their collaboration says: "Sasha has played a huge part in putting me on the map by supporting my music, so it’s an honour to be able to collaborate on this project with an artist that I’ve always looked up to. This EP is a perfect amalgamation of both of our sounds and I’m really proud to get this one out.”

The raw break-beats drum sounds which we all know and love, paired with modern melodic synthesizer work and dreamy vocals make up the recipe for this standout record. The sonic character oscillates between these energetic grooves and dreamlike states. The release will feature four original collabs, all defining another perspective on the sound between Sasha and Franky.
