The SAMOSA FUNK boys are back in town and boy oh boy - have they got a packed trunk of funk to unload at the loading bays here at BLT Towers. 

March 2021 brings us the latest instalment of the Samosa Funk Juggernaut, featuring the deadly duo of De Gama and Les Inferno. 
These guys just wow you into submission every time. Our advice? Don’t resist it. Embrace it. Let the Samosa Funk flow through your veins and arteries. 

Starting things off is De Gama, who had a set packed with new and upcoming releases on these gloriously crafted labels. Amazing music from an amazingly talented guy, all packaged in the De Gama silk kimono. De Gama has naturally funky bones, bones that would make the sound of a Xylophone if you tapped them. 

For the second hour we welcome Les Inferno, who delivered what we thought was arguably his best performance of this residency - that's a tough bar to meet, never mind to raise. The Les Inferno Encyclopaedia of Musical Knowledge should be on display in a glass case - you can look at it but never touch it. Les Inferno has to preach from it, and you just have to listen.

Javi Frias Loves To Boogie

Next up in the mix series all the way from Spain we have Javi Frias!! Javi is a well respected DJ and producer from the Disco and House scene. He began collecting and playing records as a young ‘soul boy' at the end of the nineties in Madrid, his hometown, and since then he has not stopped traveling to share his music through many venues, clubs and festivals worldwide. New York, Cairo, London, Mexico City, Paris, Barcelona, Washington DC, Amsterdam or Berlin are just some of the places he has had the opportunity to carry out his incendiary, eclectic and danceable sets full of disco, boogie, funk, house and soulful sounds.

In the past few years he has begun to make noise at international level thanks to his edits and reworks, published a handful of EPs and singles on influential labels like Street Edits, Tropical Disco Records, Giant Cuts, Midnight Riot, Boogie Café and Bons Records. His music is played and charted regularly by top DJs such Danny Krivit, Detroit Swindle, Red Greg, Horse Meat Disco, Jacques Renault, Rahaan, Marcel Vogel, Folamour, Get Down Edits, Frank Booker and more...

In 2017 he started his own label Night Shift Records, devoted to edits and reworks of disco and house, where he has released his own productions and occasionally the work of other fellow producers. He's also part of the mysterious Disco Pocho label, focused on the soul and funk side of the disco edit, where he has already released a couple of 7”.

For this mix Javi does what he does best, so strap in for a solid 90 mins of uplifting funky edits mixed with pin point precision, turn it up!

We have been fans of @casbah-73 for quite some time now so this mix is well overdue. We always like to wait for a good moment and the release of his brilliant new single Let's Invade The Amazon on @boogieangst felt like the perfect time to ask him to step up to the Le Visiteur decks.

The Black Light Disco Show returned for its weekly tickling of the  myhouseradio.fm airwaves - and here's the whole two hours in all of its glory! 

It’s an all residents affair again this week with Esteban & Goz priming the confetti cannons and arming the glitter bombs here in the BLD Towers events space. The lads have been working away in the ‘Sonic Achievables Lab’ all weekend so it’ll be nice for them to take in the neon gases and disco particulates of the events space. They’ve both got their nebulisers so we assume they’ll be ok.

Esteban kicks things off with a set that's heavy on the bass and weaves effortlessly in and out of disco & house, featuring the likes of Corrado Alunni, Birdee & Keli Sae, Never Dull, More Amour and Jo Paciello to name but a few. 

Goz then takes over for the second hour - taking things up a notch and swinging things around from jazzy nonchalance to deep grooves and killer disco. Expect pure fire tracks from Delfonic & Kapote, Saison & Miss Patty, Andy Bach and Aaron Swales amongst others.

Russia-based, nu-disco and slow-mo household name, Buzz Compass, is back in the Slow Mo Lounge, alongside South African founder, DJ Kongisto.

Buzz Compass, aka Andrey Bychenkov, is a producer and DJ who hails from St. Petersburg Russia. Having been in the deejaying scene since 1997 (in his native city of Ivanovo and Nizhny Novgorod), Buzz Compass is world renowned for production credits ranging from Editorial Records, Whiskey Disco, Bonanza Records, FKR maison du groove, Glenview Records, Masterworks Music, Midnight Riot, Freedom Sessions and Coyote Cuts.  

Andrey loves repping his country; Russia, never passing up an opportunity to spin natively and in neighbouring countries Belarus and Kazakhstan. An avid disco collector and lover, Buzz is always looking for local disco and house music artists to promote the Russian scene which is exemplary in his dynamic sets & mixes.

Kongisto says: Buzz Compass is a friend and a family member at Slow Mo Lounge, it’s our 3rd collab and I’m really pleased with the outcome. Buzz has challenged convention in his latest mix bringing through a trippy, acid lounge, slow-mo sound, that honestly had me pushing my own boundary in track selection and mixing technique. It’s a solid 3 hours, and we hope our South African plus international listeners love it – we certainly loved curating it. 

The mix is up to 3 hours long, featuring household classics, as well as brand spanking new slow-mo hits and edits from across the globe.
