To That Storm, That Storm Was Fun

Latlaus Sky (Pronounced LAT-lus) is the Portland-based duo Brett and Abby Larson. After releasing 'Swells E.P.' to positive reviews in 2011, the two began finalizing concepts for a masterpiece love story, 'The End of Sorrow'. After writing numerous versions, poems, and accompanying paintings and sketches, the sweeping 14-track album was finally completed in Boulder, CO where the two played and recorded the songs themselves. Latlaus Sky's influences stretch from Elliott Smith to Burial. The music is at times intimately acoustic and at other times reminiscent of Eluvium's spacious soundscapes. Following Sufjan Stevens, the Larson duo may be among the forerunners in the beginnings of 'Contemplative Folk'. Indeed, the music seeks to develop and create a meditative space where the listener can melt into the rich synths and delicate melodies. It is in this way that Latlaus Sky opens our hearts to the story of love and letting go that permeates The End of Sorrow. The duo is currently working on an instrumental follow up sequel The Other Shore, to be released someday. THey are also hard at work writing a new story that will become an album too. It is Paradise Lost chronicling the mythical story of an Angel who fell from grace and landed in a forlorn and desolate land. The story is very loosely based on Milton's 17th century epic by the same name. Larson has said that this album will take years to complete.
