Either when holding the bar for over a decade at Soundwall - one of the reference webzines for the Italian electronic music landscape, working as artistic director for the Roman party RNY or during his two-decade long digging journey, Matteo Cavicchia's life has always been guided by music and the desire to explore and absorb as many artistic stimuli as possible.
Basically Ugly Covers was born in 2023 as an ode to the bad taste for record covers' artworks from back in the day, the surface under which some of the most underrated and funniest gems of (not only) dance music are uncovered.

«I don’t really love to focus on a specific genre when I record my mixtapes. I prefer letting the different elements of the tracks I love take control of my flow and create an organic musical journey.

Tiella Sound Mix 080: Basically Ugly Covers

The Dutch duo Lars Dales & Maarten Smeets put out most of their music through their own label Heist Recordings and have quickly gained popularity through their early releases like “The Wrap Around”, and “The Break Up”. Their more recent output sees them explore the broader corners of electronic music with the dreamy “Tamarindus Hollandicus”, and the sample-heavy “Just Not Norma”. They’ve collaborated with and done remixes for artists like Tom Misch, Kerri Chandler, Mayer Hawthorne, Mark de Clive-Lowe, Hercules & Love Affair and Seven Davis Jr.

Let's start 2020 in style with one of Australia's best selectors CC:DISCO! (@cc-disco). Her set are packed with the finest disco, house and italo cuts that always result in proper goodtimes on the dancefloor.

DJ, radio host, curator, label head and party promoter – CC:DISCO! is hopelessly lost in music and there’s no turning back. Playing disco, house and boogie cuts with her heart at the controls, CC triggers a joyous feedback loop that infects the dance floor. There’s no pretension, only pure feeling.
