For the second installment of our Original Alloys series, in which musicians create original compositions using the physical sounds of Bande des Quatres jewelry, Texas-based composer and producer @Nicodxmvs crafts an evocative, atmospheric composition inspired by the anxious ebbs and flows of sleeplessness.

@Nicodxmvs began producing at a young age, teaching himself the ins and outs of digital audio workstations. Now armed with a minimal rig of little more than a computer and a few instruments, Nicodxmvs is quickly amassing an archive of his own material, much of which is available online. His tracks blend wistful electronica with loose, skittering grooves, and textural found sounds, a style that could be likened to of the ranks of contemporaries Throwing Snow, Lapalux, and Flako.

For Original Alloys, @Nicodxmvxs composed "Sullenly," inspired the by impatience and anxiety of drifting in and out of sleep. The jewelry samples are audible at the outset of the piece, used to represent the persistence of ticking-clock in the night. Smooth, soulful chord progressions are interrupted by dissonant and distorted transitions, contrasting somnolence with unrest. 

@Nicodxmvs is currently collaborating with a variety of vocalists and producers while developing his own solo material. His EP Fall from Grace is due on MishkaNYC in summer 2015.
