i just barely made the monthly quota...

we're back to vocaloid this time in 3/4

and before anything i'd like to preface wtih just how wonderful 3/4 is - i swear you have to TRY to make something that DOESN'T sound good in 3/4

even whitenight sounds pretty decent for my second ever track going back and listening to it now (and i'm sure it's 3/4 doing a lot of the heavy lifting)

okay background time

so there i was at q-meet 2025 Q2 (shoutsout to v-ga london!) coming off ~4 hours of near non-stop beatmania iidx 31 EPOLIS grinding (probably trying to force my earth power ceiling to get higher with hard level 9s i had no right even challenging in the first place) damn near losing my mind + my fingers

so i decide to pause the death grinding and go through most of the hyper difficulties for the epolis songs and landed on a certain track by the name of リメンバーリメンバー

from the first measure alone i went 'yo. what is this...?'

there is no word of a lie when i tell you that play alone got me through a majority of the ~10 hours of that grind session

seriously the moment (haha) i finished that iidx credit i went straight over to the pop'n music cab just because i felt like i had to honour it by playing it in its original game (also fun fact this song's character, Shoko, has been my pop'n character of choice ever since dethroning RASIS)

safe to say it left a pretty big impression on me! in fact i can confidently say that it's my favourite song in all of BEMANI to date so i'm EXTREMELY grateful to whichever iidx sound director decided it would be a great fit for the game (it was also my first A rank play on a level 9 i think which is neat)

so when it came time to writing a new (ideally more beautiful) song after releasing two unserious ones back to back i knew immediately where i could draw inspiration - and the resultt is Moment!

general info:
- this song has a BPM of 170
- the title comes from the lyrics (well, lyric) which honestly don't even make that much sense but alas i had to fill in the stencil that i gave myself
- the main inspiration for the song is (obviously) rino & m@sumi from plastic penguin - リメンバーリメンバー (Remember Remember) from pop'n music Sunny Park (which, by the way, is also referenced in this song's genre)

and there you have it

this song was EXTREMELY hard to put together (3/4 drums...) but i'm pretty satisfied with the result

i don't really know what kind of song i'll do next but we'll cross that bridge when we get there

but for now enjoy the solemnly swaying solitude of Belvedere Waltz!
