Victoria Cheong for Laundry Day

Victoria Cheong is a Toronto-based artist working in music, video, and
performance. She produces and performs electronic music as New Chance. Her work in music has also included DJing, remixing, and a long-time collaborative practice in contemporary dance. New Chance released her full-length LP, Real Time, and accompanying remix album Real Time Remixed in 2021.

Soundscapes vol. 3 featuring Kazumi Sakoda for Laundry Day

Kazumi Sakoda, a Japanese artist based in Barcelona, investigates sound through the audio she collects from the streets of Barcelona. She is interested in and inspired by the sound differences between the city and the sounds of the city of Tokyo, where she was born and grew up. 

The materials collected are transformed into music in cassette format, using loops of these handmade tapes. Through the recontextualization of these cassettes, sampling, and recordings of urban soundscapes, her compositions blur the genres of experimental noise and music.

Soundscapes vol. 3 // Featuring Kazumi

Tak Nakamura is a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist who has been creating and touring music globally for over 30 years. After studying the Lydian Chromatic Concept of Tonal Organization under jazz legend George Russell at the New England Conservatory of Music, Nakamura moved to New York in 1994, where he became an integral and sought after part of NYC's vibrant underground music scene. His masterful use of piano, trumpet and various electronic instruments, paired with a diverse musical background and fusion of uncommon and exciting styles of music, has distinguished Takuya Nakamura’s work and brought him to perform with and alongside acts such as Sun Ra Arkestra, Quincy Jones, Lee Scratch Perry, Laurie Anderson, David Byrne, Coco Rosie and many other notable artists.

Soundscapes Vol. 4 <> Tak Nakamura feat. Teenage Engineering

Perila is a St. Petersburg-born, Berlin-based sound and visual artist, DJ and performer who works to explore the sensitive borderlines and depths of subtle matter. Her music explores thick narratives with shifting moods and textures, allowing the listener to drift through a rich psychedelic sound palette. Perila’s passion for radio led her to curate and design Berlin Community Radio, where she hosted monthly for four years, and to co-found Russian online station radio.syg.ma which specializes in experimental soundscapes. In addition to showcasing her unique ventures through ambient music, her show has also welcomed the likes of Andrew Pekler, Dynamo Dreesen, and Tomoko Sauvage. Perila also curates an online community WET (Weird Erotic Tension), which explores ideas of sonic sexuality in mixing spoken word, poetry, ASMR and field recordings. Since 2020 Perila has been involved with the musical projects Aseptic Stir, LOG, and Critical Amnesia.

Soundscapes by laundry day is a series of sonic explorations in collaboration with emerging artists and sound practitioners, released alongside a feature of their work and creative process. 

Composed of 45-60 minute sets, soundscapes engages your auditory senses and explores sound’s capacity to guide your mood and enhance your surroundings. Immerse yourself in deep listening or simply enjoy each mix as a complementary soundtrack to your atmosphere.
