I wrote this song a long while ago, but I've never gotten around to recording it. Usually, it's a big ol' thing with a full band, but I thought it might be nice to do a little demo version with just vox and ukulele (to satisfy a request from a friend). :) I think it's more fun with the band, honestly. :)

We brought out the big noises and the horn section for this little release, featuring me on guitar and vocals, Josh Weitzel on lead guitar (he also recorded and arranged things), Vanessa Ellsbury on bass, Scott Shevel on drums, and Andy Juhl on all of the brass, all of the time (it's sort of a fantasy project). :)

Sinner's Hymn (draft single)

Once upon a time, I decided to mess around with arranging this old tune (I had a Sharpe's Rifles hangover going, I think). It was largely improvised during the recording process, and a fun first lesson in recording violin and octave mando tracks. For those keeping score at home: No, this is not Zeppelin. Yes, it does sound like someone's wedding processional -- and in fact this recording has been used for that purpose. Yes, it does sort of go off the rails a bit at the end. I *knew* I should have taken that music composition class when I was an undergraduate! I listen to it now and can't help wishing for a cello...

Over The Hills And Far Away (Traditional)

This is what happens when it's too darn cold to leave the house on New Year's Eve, but I don't have the patience to actually rehearse and do things right. Note the distinctively American pronunciation of "lang," and pity Burns for the fact that things like this are his poetic legacy. :) Happy New Year, all!
