Prelude #1

The genre "Improvision", a coinage of Improvisation and Vision, was invented first in 1987, when i recorded a very nice piano- improvisation . It sounded like a fully worked out composition, which came to me like a vision from "i dont know where". I decided to transcribe it and corrected also some obviously not so meant wrong notes. From this time on, im collecting Improvisions, and sometimes, i add additional instruments later.

After the success of my track "SISTER" three years ago, i planned  a whole "Family" -series,  but then i lost  the project out of my view. Last week, i played the first improvisation of this piece, and  i felt instinctively, that this will be "MOTHER".  Hope you enjoy!

Hello and welcome to my SoundCloud profile; thanks for taking the time to check it out! :)

I live in a sleepy little village nestled in the shadow of a ruined castle on the stormy shores of Scotland in the British Isles. I'm a theoretical & mathematical physics research student reading quantum cosmology, and slowly on my way to an academic career as a mathematical physicist. Unfortunately, I've had a slight setback in the form of a spinal injury that's left me with severe disability, chronic pain, and on morphine, for well over a decade now. Such is life.

I re-share a lot of science and technology podcasts, but I also adore open-source culture and I'm a self-confessed audiophile and filmscore fanatic. I'm not a musician, so all sounds are just re-shares of music I like. A lot of the music I re-share is by the awesome composers and artists on SoundCloud, with many works [legally] downloadable.

Genres I'm especially fond of include: instrumental, classical, contemporary classical, minimalism, ambient, and cinematic soundtracks. I'm also interested in experimental, fractal, mathematical, algorithmic, emergent and AI-generated music – but more from an academic perspective, so I don't usually re-share those on SoundCloud.

I have been studying music on and off since I was 6. My main instrument I play is piano, but I also play handbells, ukulele and played violin at one time. I stopped playing piano for a period of time around when I was11 but decided to get back into again and take lessons when I was 15. I ended up stopping again a few months after that because the teacher I had at the time told me that because I wasn't able to read music and rhythm correctly I wouldn't get very far with music. Hearing that fueled me to be determined to fix my weak spots on my own (I guess you could say there was something inside pushing me to not give music up all together). From there I taught myself how to read music and learned so much more on my own then from a teacher. 

In 2007 I began to study piano more seriously on a classical level learning Bach, Mozart, Grieg, Debussy, Rachmaninoff, etc.
It wasn't until 2009 by ending up in a music theory class on a whim I was opened to the world of composing music and wrote my first piece. After that I began studying composition and in 2010 entered one of my works into a competition and won first place receiving the 2011 Jack Stone Award for New Music. 

Now I really just enjoy doing improvisations and recording them along with still continuing to write compositions for different instruments.
