'Dawn' is the first piece of music from a film by Meredith Monk: 'Book of Days'. It is originally written for vocal ensemble. But with some adjustments I am able to perform the music on my own, with the Boss RC-300 for looping. I use TC-Helicon VoiceLlive 2 for reverb and vocal doubling.

Some of my favourite moments from yesterdays Gospel session right on time for the festive season. As promised I am delivering the playlist today. Shout out to @jimettarose and @arpfrique and the Amsterdam based Perpetual Singers for providing some very classy current additions and @le_loulz for hooking me up with the Eugene Hash. I am sure everyone I know has one by now. The Steve Williams messes me up as reminds me soooo much of Jocelyn Brown which makes me smile and happy. Hope you ll enjoy the mix and of course, this is No 8 in the ongoing quest of putting together spiritual feel good mixes .

I am not gonna lie, every time I work through my pile of acquisitions trying to figure out what to do and also if I have reached critical mass yet for a mixtape, I swear it’s the last time I gonna do it. There is something about these records and artwork that makes it hard to stick to my brain. So I am at the point where first I go through everything new I have bought since the last Gospel Tape and figure out all the tunes I wanna use and don’t wanna use, then I do something I don’t have to do with other genres, I tap out the BPM on the MPC because it’s so all over the place, there are tunes from 80 - 170 BPM in my pile and then I wish myself luck and go for it with good faith. What amuses me is the times I end up tunes I was convinced I would start the mix with as final track. Blink your eyes twice if this sounds family. In seinem Buch Hand und Wort zeichnet der französische Paläologe André Leroi-Gourhan die Evolution von Technik, Spra-
che und Kunst anhand von Fossilien (Schädeln / Skeletten / Faustkeilen), Graphismen, Handabdrücken und Höhlenmale-
reien nach. Die Differenzierung von Händen und Füßen durch den aufrechten Gang und die Übertragung von Schneide-,
Reiss- und Schlagfunktionen des Gebisses durch den Gebrauch von Werkzeugen auf die Hände sind nur die ersten Stadien,
die die enge Verknüpfungen zwischen Werkzeug und Sprache, Hand und Gesicht, Geste und Wort begründen.
„Die Hand hat ihre Sprache, deren Ausdruck sich auf den Gesichtssinn bezieht, das Gesicht hat seine Sprache, die an den
Hörsinn geknüpft ist – die Geste interpretiert das Wort, und dieses wiederum kommentiert den Graphismus.“
Die Cuica ist eine brasilianische Reibetrommel, verwandt mit Brummtopf, Löwengebrüll und Waldteufel. Der Variabilität
ihrer klangfarblichen Möglichkeiten – vor allem ihrer Ähnlichkeit zu (Tier)stimmen – steht die Schwierigkeit gegenüber,
diese zu kontrollieren.
