Laura van Dam | Untold 2024

Once every month, Markus Schulz migrates from the studio and brings a flavor of his recent liveset experiences to the Global DJ Broadcast listeners. Throughout his career, the city of Angeles, and specifically Avalon nightclub in Hollywood, holds a major resonance and significance in his career. Along with over 10 New Year's Eve performances at teh venue, a recent tradition has also included an open to close solo set throughout the summer months. The highlights of his August 2024 visit are featured on the show this week.

Fans can catch Markus in action in his home city of Miami this Friday, performing another open to close solo set at MAD Live, before heading out west to play at Ora in Seattle on Saturday.

Markus' latest single is his special Club mix version of Till We Fade, featuring the vocals of Emma Hewitt, and you can support by streaming and adding to your playlists.

The phrase In Search of Sunrise carries a deep resonance throughout the dance music community, and ever since its debut outing 25 years ago, in 1999, its purpose has been to emotionally inspire. Spearheaded by Tiesto for the first seven editions, and continued by Richard Durand from 8 through 13, the honor was bestowed upon Markus Schulz to be the primary curator of the series from the 14th volume onwards.

In September 2024, In Search of Sunrise not only celebrated its 25th anniversary, but also reached its milestone 20th edition. The most expansive volume in the series to date, featuring no less than six DJ mixes; by Markus, Solarstone, Airscape, Super8 & Tab, York and ZOYA.

To mark the occasion, Markus wanted to weave something a little extra for company as part of the celebrations, by going through the entire history of the series and highlighting some of the significant pieces that have shaped the various generations of the series.

Markus Schulz - Global DJ Broadcast In Search of Sunrise 20 Companion Mix

Being German born, any show in the country for Markus Schulz feels like a homecoming of sorts. But the city of Berlin holds extra significance for him, as it has been his European base for many years while touring internationally; and has played a significant role in his musical influences and production. On Friday September 20 2024, Markus returned to Berlin for one of his signature open to close performances at The Cloud nightclub, and the highlights form the latest edition of the Global DJ Broadcast World Tour. 

The remaining World Tour recordings in 2024 are both high profile solo sets - firstly this Sunday, continuing a Canadian Thanksgiving tradition at Stereo in Montreal. And then the following Friday, October 18, Markus plays all night long at Melkweg for his annual Amsterdam Dance Event show. So if you are attending one of them, please bring your passion and voice for the world to hear.

Markus' contribution to In Search of Sunrise 20 is available to stream now, and forms part of the limited edition CD and vinyl box sets at the Magik Muzik shop.

Continuing an annual Global DJ Broadcast tradition, Markus Schulz is delighted to return to Amsterdam for one of the most important weeks in the dance music calendar - the annual Amsterdam Dance Event. Being labeled ‘The Future of Dance’ by 1001tracklists.com: rising star Laura van Dam, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, is making one move after the other. Signing her music to renowned progressive house labels like Anjuna, Protocol, DOORN, Epic247 and Smash Deep, and playing at the biggest festivals and venues, like Ultra Europe, Sunburn Festival, Parookaville and Privilege Ibiza. With her unique music style combining deep progressive sounds and dark energetic beats Laura is bound to make major waves in her career.

It all started when a young girl Laura fell in love with electronic music at the age of only 12. Her music career started by winning a famous DJ contest at the Blue Marlin on Ibiza at the age of just 17 years old. After this Laura got inspired to take her career in music serious and she graduated in “Electronic Music Production” and studied “Audio Engineering” at the SAE Institute in Amsterdam. This has helped her develop professionally and allowed her to bring her music and shows to the next level. This paved the way for Laura her releases on some of the best labels in progressive house, like DOORN Records, Protocol Records and Smash Deep. Laura also got requested by Deezer to remix music by Beethoven in celebration of his 250th Birthday.

Over the past few years Laura worked as an A&R assistant for Doorn Records, where she oversaw the talent scouting and advised upcoming artists. Besides that she was also responsible for signing new label releases, including a few top 10 hittracks! She also worked as head of promo for Sander van Doorn's Identity Radio shows/live show's, which gave her the opportunity to work close with her mentor, Sander van Doorn and developed herself in her music.
