Re-Works is a collection of remixes made by international artists for the Berlin-based electroacoustic duo The Pond (Elisabetta Lanfredini and Nicolas Wiese) whose first album "Turchesi Miracolosi" saw the light in 2021 on Syrphe.

All benefits will be given to Save The Children, an organisation that supports children in 122 countries, victims of war, poverty, hunger and other sorts of violence.

History has teached us that signals are always there, and that they are loud enough. Why is it that some people, although fully able to listen, do not even pay attention to the sound residues of racism? Of which matter is the noise between the signals and the listeners, among words and among worlds?

During World War I, Germany pursued a lesser-known campaign in the Middle East, aiming to destabilize British and colonial powers through a mix of military and ideological strategies. Historian Salvador Oberhaus referred to this as the “orientalist war of illusions,” marked by Germany’s attempts to incite Islamic populations against colonial rulers, particularly in Persia (modern-day Iran), which served as a strategic link between the Ottoman Empire and British-controlled India.

One major project tied to this ambition was the Berlin-Baghdad Railway, intended to boost German influence and trade in the region. Although the railway remained incomplete, it symbolized Germany’s imperial goals.

Unlike the well-known British officer Lawrence of Arabia, German efforts involved loosely organized expeditions, often led by adventurers without clear oversight. One such figure was Captain Fritz Klein, appointed in 1914 to lead an expedition to seize British oil fields near the Karun River. His 400-man force included escaped Austro-Hungarian soldiers, German specialists, Turkish troops, and local Persian gendarmes.

Among them was Pedro Hermann Blumenau, a mining engineer of German-Brazilian background. Educated in Germany, Blumenau played a key role in exploring raw material sources, particularly for coal and oil to support Ottoman and German operations. Their journey spanned modern-day Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Iran, passing through cities like Aleppo, Baghdad, and Karbala.

Blumenau documented valuable mineral deposits, including the Salahije mine near Baghdad. However, the expedition also exposed them to the horrors of war, such as the Armenian forced marches and a typhus outbreak. After returning to Berlin, Blumenau joined Deutsche Erdöl A.G. but died in Istanbul in 1917.

This German campaign, though ambitious, had limited impact on the war’s outcome but remains a fascinating glimpse into wartime geopolitics and early energy interests in the Middle East.

Intangible Sound of Contact investigates the history of contact between distinct groups of people at the beginning of the 20th century. Based on the history of the Blumenau family, it addresses the German presence in Brazil and Turkey during the so-called new colonialism at the beginning of the 20th century.

The project considers listening as a phenomenon that relates artistic experiences to a specific territory.

Following the arrest of the Mayor of Istanbul on March 19, 2025, university students who gathered peacefully to exercise their constitutional rights during the growing anti-government protests were detained. Many were subjected to police violence and torture. Students are still on trial, and detentions and arrests are continuing. We stand with all students who defend freedom of expression and strive to make their voices heard! All proceeds from this concert will go to support the detained students who continue to resist for their freedom and stand up for their rights, with the support of the Soli 25 Berlin collective solidarity network.
