This month I’m delighted to share the first guest mix from Idit Frenkel! @iditf

Idit has DJed, ran monthly parties and bookings for several clubs over the course of the last 20 years. From cutting her teeth at her Tel Aviv party Later with local residents and friends Niv, Benji and Ofri, she has since graced the decks of Panorama Bar and Tresor. Next month she’ll be making her London debut, so can’t wait for that!

Idit’s DJ style encompasses all things deep from dub tinged house, broken beat and smooth techno sounds so you’ll be treated to a slick selection from Idit, recorded exclusively for my show.

I’ll be kicking off the first 60mins leaving the second hour to Idit.

Since we can all agree it is just too damn hot out there, we figured it would be nice to send a weekly dose of chilled, dubby, deep house mix, right to your feeds.

Expect an hour (or two) of lushing goodness, from us or our friends around the globe. Every Sunday, noonish.

Kicking off the new series with a little mix we did a few months ago.

Liquid Mix EP01 - Liquid Luz

@iditf is an Israeli DJ, radio host and club booker, who started to DJ in the underground club scene in Tel Aviv around 10 years ago: after building up a serious collection of deep house and dark techno records, and imagining what she could do with it in the club. Over those past 10 years, she’s become a familiar and respected figure within a scene that she sees as vital to her survival as an Israeli. “It can be horrible here. They [the state of Israel] can tear our cities apart and try to turn people against one another,” she insists, reflecting on having lived through years of war, “but they cannot take music and dancing from us. We need it to live.” When it comes to her parties, then, escapism is key, and her selections build a dream world for the listener, wherever they may be.

Been going to Glasto since I was 11 years old so to finally play there, age 55, was a real nice thing. The rules for daytime sets at the notorious Maceo’s arrive in an email proclaiming “NO BANGERS” under pain of death, so I did just that: low, slow and mellow, with a handful of acts playing the main fest that weekend thrown in and one for Philippe Zdar too.

The booth for HMT Hard Cru's micro-rave propped open a lift with walls plastered in memes, and the DJs donned boiler suits reading "WITCH HOUSE" and "BLOG HOUSE." That was only the beginning of the fun. Just when you think this ride couldn't get any more wild, keep listening for the next ridiculous (maybe better: ridonkulous) edit or unthinkable mashup.
