Amadeus sees it’s catalog graced yet again by New Zealand outfit Chaos In The CBD. The kiwi brothers, birthed Ben & Louis Helliker-Hales, are no new faces to the label, or the wide variety of genre-bending acronyms they encompass. Having recently relocated from tropical Auckland to damp London earlier this year, the two take their productions along with them in their latest efforts, 816 To Nunhead.

Title track and aside, “816 To Nunhead,” is tinged with what’s left of summer. A nostalgic tune built for the sun and soaked in funk. It’s a track reminiscent of early french disco, almost as if built for the two robots themselves. Guitar plucks and hi hats flow seamlessly throughout the tune, aided by a glorifying vocal, “I would like to think of my music as just an extension, an extension of me of today or whatever.”

What emotion of freedom and escape evoked on the Aside can be contrasted on the flip, “78 To Stanley Bay,” a tune built behind the ever looming theme of loneliness. Accompanied by a live trumpet courtesy of Isaac Aesili, ’78 To Stanley Bay’ tells us a story, or rather a journey, built behind dirty hats and delayed keys. This is a track fashioned for everywhere but the club, and we absolutely love that.

Bradley Zero’s Rhythm section imprint sees its next release come in the form of some divine grooves courtesy of South London based duo, Chaos In The CBD. The New Zealand Born, Peckham based brothers have released with the likes of ClekClekBoom and Hot Haus and now step up for RS008 with four melancholic cuts that pays homage to deep house and laid-back jazz in their truest forms. Hypnotic and hazy, Midnight In Peckham goes on a late night tip, with a subtle poetry to the track that gives it an unequivocally timeless vibe. Due for release 24th August, delve deep into this exclusive i-D premiere.

Umbo is back on Timewarp imprint with a heavy roasted nufunk EP Sunday Jam.

Grand opener is the self titled Sunday Jam feat. Goran Schmidt on the Saxophone. As the title states it is indeed a great jam funk tune to blow your minds featuring a great baseline, amazing solo saxophone and heavy funk guitars. Basement Freaks remixes and recreates a nudisco/nufunk floor-filler track while Audio InFunktion transforms the song into a well done funk breakbeat to the bone groove.

The second song Keep That Beat feat. Mila continues the journey with soulful and funky vocals from Mila. With a crazy fast clavinet and big breakbeats the song drives through the amazing baseline. Label boss Timewarp inc slows down the song with his remix by adding elegant and stylish keys and afro vibes over the original. Cayetano closes the Ep with his downtempo funk groove rework.
