More than a few people have asked me about the Thai buddhist monk chanting that has been used in this track, the Original and Adrit in Surat Thani. The story is that I recorded this whilst in Koh Samui and was visiting the beautiful Big Buddha temple in Koh Faan. The chant was utterly mesmerising and I had a feeling that I would use it later for the Gulf of Siam recording.

La primer noche soñé que la Madre del Agua me llevaba a nadar en el mar, 
y de tanto que me hundió me ganó el miedo y tuve que despertar.

A la tercer noche fui yo quien la busqué para hacerle un pedido especial.
Desde chico había fantaseado con conocer una bestia marina algún día, de esas
que habitan en lo más profundo del océano, y ella accedió a mi pedido y me llevó.

Después de un buen tiempo de bajar a la parte más oscura y fría llegamos, y ahí estaba.
Este animal majestuoso que medía unas tres veces el tamaño de la ballena más grande me pidió que por favor no lo lastimara, y cuando entendió que no era mi intención fue que abrió sus ojos inmensos.
El brillo de su mirada fue tanto que alcanzó para iluminar el océano entero haciéndolo de día. 

No existen palabras para describir lo que vi en ese momento, y fue con esa claridad con la que desperté algunos días después.

Cuando abrí los ojos no podía respirar, estaba ahogado en mi propio aire. Por eso en un esfuerzo de voluntad muy grande tuve que ir corriendo hasta el estanque y soltar toda el agua.
Así fue como aprendí a respirar de nuevo.

Eight years after his first and only EP "Luces del Aire" (Hipi Duki Music, 2009) we received an email from Chancha with two unreleased tracks, produced in the limbo between Universildo and the Chancha. Suffice to say, we were blown away. Two tracks that show already the sonic vision of Pedro's music that has us under his spell: the meeting of organic minimalism with deep rhythms and ancestral roots.

Our 25th Anniversary slot this week features Richard Dorfmeister who appeared on the show in 2003 and featured many times as one half of Kruder and Dorfmeister, as well as his project Tosca with Rupert Huber, amongst others. Opening with ECM artist Steve Tibbetts, his mix floats between Gui Boratto, his own lush edit for Selah Sue, acoustic guitar of Jeb Loy Nichols and the dubbed out Rhythm & Sound featuring Cornell Campbell on vocals. He then weaves through Pat Metheney, the dub version of Sunset from Grace Jones' last album, blues from Ry Cooder and ending with a couple of tracks from his recent Tosca album 'Odeon'.
