Jon Hester got his start in the midwest US, living in Chicago, Minneapolis, and connecting with Detroit. His intuition as a DJ taps his experience as a classically-trained musician and self-taught dancer. After years on the dance floor, he took to the decks in the late nineties, going on to work in record shops, manage his own events, and hold residencies that developed his sound. Now based in Berlin as A&R for EDEC, he continues to sharpen his skills as a producer.

Drawing inspiration from both sides of the decks, his DJ sets are built on physical rhythms and adventurous programming, effortlessly combining diverse varieties of techno and house. With an engaging presence and a knack for telling a story, he builds a unique connection with each audience, and works any room until it sweats.

Jeroen Search [ Figure SPC / M_REC LTD ] Netherlands

From the age of 15 years old he started dj-ing at a friends place, ending up buying himself a set of decks not long after. Early 90s Jeroen got into contact with the upcoming house music and got into it from that moment on. Meeting DJ Misjah in 1993 was his first opportunity to translate his thoughts into music and their cooperation resulted in some of the first X-Trax records releases (at that time his alias was DJ Groovehead).
Because of the strong desire of releasing his own musical thoughts the record label "Search" was founded.
The Search imprint was a vessel to express his artistic point of view. Strongly influenced by the likes of Jeff Mills, Robert Hood and the Detroit sound he developed his own unique recognizable sound, which is best to be described as minimal techno. Using a lot of hardware in the studio Recording tracks in one take, doing all the edits live while recording is not the most usual way of recording nowadays but doing it for as long as he produces music, Jeroen got quite skilled in it. Always trying to get the maximum out of a minimum setup of equipment means pushing yourself to be creative, and to never give up.
One of the highlights in his musical career was releasing on Jeff Mills' 6277/Axis records, the New Reality ep (solo) and the Martian Mystique (as Counterpart).
In 2003 Jeroen teamed up with Dimi Angélis and together they are “Counterpart” and also did various releases under the names Dimi & Jeroen.
They decided to start perform as a liveact, but doing it in a different way you nowadays usually see, it is a combination of hardware and a laptop. No complete tracks are prepared, the tracks are made on stage, so every set stands on it's own. In 2009 the highly acclaimed 3x12 inch on Figure SPC was released and got supported by many and eventually led to his first solo liveset at Berghain Berlin.
Jeroen is also doing solo livesets the same way as in Counterpart so he uses a lot of hardware, and besides some released tracks it is full of exclusive material. Preparing a new set for every gig keeps things special and really works on stage.

A Berlin resident since 2004, Mareena developed her musical career in interaction with the steady advancement of techno and house in Berlin after moving from Rostock / East Germany. As a result of her experiences within the diverse musical channels of Berlin she has developed her own distinct sound. This development naturally led to DJ gigs in many notable underground clubs such as About Blank, Berghain, Griessmühle and eventually a residency at Tresor. 

Her influences range far and wide, including anything from Detroit and Chicago acid to the more hypnotic take on dub, ambient, and techno. Throughout the years she has performed extensively both locally and internationally, accomplishing the rare feat of earning a reputation solely as a DJ and curator.

As one of the curators of the New Faces night at Tresor as well as her UNRUSH podcast, interview and event series, she has continuously crafted new conduits for both established and emerging artists to break down musical barriers and transform the world around them. As a DJ she is a chameleon, carefully stitching together immaculate and immersive sound landscapes for any occasion. Whether she is playing peak time, warm up, or after hour, her sound reveals an intelligent eclecticism fused with bold elements of surprise that exemplify her rich knowledge of electronic music culture.

Berghain's latest resident shows his wares. 

There are around 20 DJs who could be considered Berghain/Panorama Bar residents, but that doesn't make us any less curious when someone new joins the fold. Answer Code Request is Patrick Gräser, a DJ and live act who has been playing monthly at the Berlin house and techno institution since August of last year. Gräser established the ACR alias in 2011, releasing a startlingly assured four-track EP coupled with an appearance on Marcel Dettmann's Conducted mix for Music Man. This fact, however, is a little misleading: Gräser has been producing—if not releasing—music for much of the last decade. He grew up in the same East German town, Fürstenwalde, as Marcel Fengler and Marcel Dettmann, sharing their formative clubbing experiences during the '90s in nearby Berlin. 

Gräser's first formal releases arrived around 2008, as he put out a run of house-orientated tracks on labels like liebe*detail and his own short-lived Nightsingale imprint. While this material showed promise, it was later as Answer Code Request that Gräser really came into his own. The best example we can point you to is Main Mode and The Host, a pair of 12-inches released simultaneously through Marcel Dettmann Records that we last year described in similar terms to Shed's multifarious, '90s-informed approach to techno and broken beats.
