La'Ventus is dedicated to sharing and advocating both classical and contemporary music and championing new repertoire for the saxophone through the incredibly versatile and flexible medium of the saxophone quartet.

Described as “a choice ensemble that plays with style and elegance”, La’Ventus (“La’Ventus” is derived from the Latin words “Latus,” meaning side, and “Ventus,” meaning wind, thus, “winds from four sides”) is comprised of four saxophonists who met as master’s students at the Hartt School in 2012 and hail from such diverse areas as California, Italy, and Taiwan. They possess a multitude of rich musical experiences and perspectives that span the globe. Recently named as third prize winners of the 2014 American Prize in Chamber Ensemble performance, they have performed on the guest artist series at Quinnipiac University, the 2013 NASA regional conference in Salem, MA,the 2013 Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium, have been named theConnecticut state representative in the 2013 Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Regional Chamber Music Competition in Columbia, Maryland, and are semifinalists in2013-musical-club-hartford6 the 2014 North American Saxophone Alliance saxophone quartet competition. They have also been selected to perform in a variety of masterclasses by distinguished artists that include the Imani Winds, Dr. Timothy McAllister, and the 4sxxes quartet.

La’Ventus has worked closely with composer Hilary Tann, and has both premiered and had a number of compositions dedicated by such premiere composers as Thomas Schuttenhelm, Daniel Morel, Matthew Kennedy, Taige McMahon, Matthew Primm, and Jonathan Annis. Recently, in the summer of 2013, they traveled to Faenza, Italy to perform at the International SaxArt Festival with saxophonist Marco Albonetti.
