With a voice that stirs the soul, LawGiver’s lyrical onslaught transcends boundaries to entertain and educate people both locally and internationally. His inherent passion for music stemmed from his personal journey which sees him delivering music rich with social commentaries, contemporary beats and an occasional love note. The dynamic vocalist and songwriter is determined in pursuing music of the highest quality while staying true to his roots – reggae.  LawGiver believes music is food for our souls and has amassed a following of like minded music lovers.
Born, Oneil Phoenix in Kingston, Jamaica, he later moved to the parish of St. Mary where he completed his education before returning to Kingston to pursue a full musical career. However, this quest for a place in the industry had begun earlier in St. Mary on his uncle’s Tidal Wave sound system. While growing up, he would compete in musical clashes with other young men from the community using imitation microphones molded from clay. Also, watching his Father spinning vinyl records on Sundays was his favorite past time.  “As soon as my Daddy touched that record box, I also got myself ready to go, because there was no leaving me behind,” beamed LawGiver.  Inspired by another uncle and cousin from the Ska group Jug Johnny and the Italites, LawGiver knew one day he would be a part of the music business. After all, it runs in his blood.
His mother also impacted him considerably.  A woman with strong morals and true to her culture; she was a part of the Islington Dinki Mini group. Going to dance practice with her, he was amazed by the sound of the instruments they used. Seeing her performing on the television with the group during Heroes Day, Emancipation and Independence Days also spiked his interest in becoming a musician. These earlier experiences and inspirations helped to develop his rich musical background and distinct voice.
Upon his return to Kingston, his first encounter was at Mixing Lab Studio where he worked with Jamaica’s prolific dancehall artiste Bounty Killer. Here he worked on the single “Bad Smell” on the Scare Dem Label as Stone Dyce; the moniker given to him by Bounty Killer who also played an essential role in the development of the artiste LawGiver is today. While at Mixing Lab, he became a part of the group Nu Born Thugs with whom he has done songs with such as “One God” and “Maternity Ward.”
At Mixing Lab Studio, he also met the musical power house duo Sly & Robbie who played an intricate part in the well rounded and balanced artiste he has become. He later went on to record his hit singles “Vibes” and “Oneness” on the Taxi Record label.  Subsequently, he has worked with Fat Eyes Production, Annex Records, and Collin Fat Records to name a few. He has also co-written songs for Merciless, Bounty Killer, Harry Toddler and Elephant Man.
LawGiver continues to captivate audiences both locally and internationally with his latest singles such “Nuh Greedy” on the Tenament Riddim and “Nuh Touch It” on the Chillum Riddim, produced by Macten Records. He has been working with them since they were introduced in 2008. Their first project was on the Cassava Riddim, with a song titled “So Nice to See.”  These riddims were all made by David Luckain Jr. aka Spanky, who he collaborated with on songs such as “Frozen” and ‘Nuh Greedy.”
In 2010, along with two friends he started the musical movement Tremor Maddanize. With a studio in place, they have worked on projects with many artistes such as Alozade, Half Pint, Pinchers, Kiprich, Merciless and Twin of Twins.
LawGiver’s music can be found at various digital music distributers such as ITunes, Spotify and Rhapsody. He has also infiltrated radio airwaves worldwide and every network that is ‘picking up clearly.’
