6G is the child of a hollow moon, unwritten histories of permaculture deities in the levant, pagan conspiracies about haunted birthrights, texts buried in lunatic obscurity, communication with the evil smile of a goddess, bells designed to be wrung three times in the night, childish blood games, farmers with occult crops.

The duo of Oxhy and Susu Laroche have chosen the name The Fertile Crescent, evoking one of the cradles of human civilization as much as a (un)healthy devotion to the power of the lunar cycle. Musically, it reeks of post-industrial folklore ripe with solemn tones and conflicting bits, combined via the mocking dream logic of a trickster spirit. A skeletal presence of melody in a sparse, ceremonial ambiance that can even welcome thunderous rolls of breakbeat, like tapping from the energy of every ritual that has scarred the land in time. Following the record is like attempting at drawing a psychic topography of those same rituals, manifestations, tragedies and games, it’s like mistaking the broadband network for the Ley lines but still succeeding in conquering its occult power.

@visi00, AKA Nicola Tirabasso, skirts the periphery of baroque aesthetic, hauntology and electronic abstraction. A recent Haunter Records debutant, the London based musician and visual artist repurposes classical imagery to his own beguiling design. 

‘Privacy Angels’ placed a glitched-out approach to baroque classicism in the same abstract space that most HR releases reside. It calls to mind the folk inflected interzones of Wojciech Rusin, and hot on the heels of its release, Tirabasso contributes to our podcast series with a typically mind-bending mix.

IDM meets the rougher edges of club music in the distinctive sound world of US-born producer Osheyack. An integral member of Shanghai’s burgeoning electronic music scene that centres around ALL Club, Osheyack is a shining example of the new hybrid form of club music, hailing from pioneering labels like SVBKVLT. His intense electronic music fuses techno, gabber, ambient, and drone, and combines perplexing sound design with destabilising percussion and tectonic bass. The result seems to capture the confusing state of being terminally online – as demonstrated on his recent album Intimate Publics (2022) – and the desire to break free from bodily and societal constraints. There’s a merciless intensity to Osheyack’s music, but listen closely through the chaos and noise and you can feel the urgency and immediacy that radiates from his revelatory dance music.

Aquarian - The Snake That Eats Itself

Canadian born, Berlin based producer @Aquarian makes his full length album debut The Snake That Eats Itself on Bedouin Records. This record follows his collaborative EPs with Deapmash as 'AQXDM" and is his first solo release since his 2016 experimental mixtape for Quiet Time.

Nearly five years in the making,The Snake That Eats Itself is Aquarian's most complex, diverse and emotive work to date, plunging his trademark UK sound-system / techno hybrids into a self-contained, cinematic universe streaked with heavy influences from industrial, IDM, drone and dark pop music. Written in Brooklyn, New York, in a deeply transitional, yet seemingly endless period preceding his relocation to Berlin,the title of the album refers to the Ouroboros, a mythological serpent symbolizing the cycle of birth and death and infinity itself.

The Snake That Eats Itself pits Aquarian's most abrasive and brutal moments next to his most wistful and introspective. Viscerally thick layers of tape saturation envelop the album as sludgy synths ooze against brittle atmospheres; breakbeats fragment, explode and disintegrate into swarms of delay and noise; scorched, metallic percussion - sampled from a year-long demolition and construction project next to his apartment - forge the rhythmic backbone of the album. These elements, however, seamlessly make way to startlingly crystalline and shimmering ambient passages, offering a sense of reprieve and balance.

“ But the sleep of a hibernate object would instead be a state of perfect sleep, in which an entity would be real but simply without relation.”

Aiôn is a Hellenistic deity associated with time, ex. season, breath, sleep (dream) etc, even Deleuze describes Cinematic time as aiôn which stretches out to become an intangible past and future, or Chronos (Chr), the ever-present that expresses only the here and now. In Geology, aiôn uses for eternity time which could also refer to four aiôns that make up the earth’s history. Aiôn is defined in Astronomy as Trillion years. Thus, we could say hibernatemode is in aiôn where an entity breaks relation with outside.

Su Yu Hsin composes essay film through philosophical and scientific approach to overlap and juxtaposition image with events, ex. Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster in 2011. Australian scientists’ microscopic investigation of antarctic moss reveals atmospheric record of Earth in its layer of cells. She uses found footage, data and facts to visualize relational geographic analysis. Hibernatemode comprised of 2- channel video and six channel sound installation. She collaborates with Sound artist Aloïs Yang to constructed nature in exhibition space.
